Just diagnosed with fibro

I have just been diagnosed with fibro. I also suffer from psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis for over 20 years. I have been given pregabalin 75mg for 2 weeks then increase to 150mg. I take also prozac due to depression. Am worried about mixing prozac with pregabalin. Does anyone take both meds? These are on the top of others meds i take for my skin and joints....

I always feel very tired and i feel confused at times...any advice please on how to cope with fibro? Thank you.

Hello Caramiel

Welcome to the forum :)

I am very sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

As you are newly diagnosed you may find it useful to have a look at our mother site for more information about Fibro fmauk.org

Your GP who prescribed your medication will know whether there are any contraindications as to both of your medications working together.

The only thing I would say is that Pregabalin (also known as Lyrica) has a little known side effect of lowering people's mood, especially people prone to depression.

I would say just keep an eye on your mood and how you are feeling on the Pregabalin. If you do feel that it is affecting your mood, please do see your GP about it. Do not just stop taking it otherwise you will almost certainly experience dreadful withdrawal symptoms.

I don't wish to frighten you. I just want you to be aware of this side effect.

There is a symptom with Fibro which is called "Fibro Fog" this is when you are in the middle of a sentence for example and then suddenly can't remember what you were saying.

Things like going into a room and forgetting why you have gone in there. Obviously all people have this to a certain extent but with Fibro it is much more pronounced.

Other than pacing yourself there is not much you can do about the fatigue I am afraid.

Once again a very warm welcome :)
