Hello there doll. Really sorry to hear that you're in so much pain. I think that everyone on here can relate to this at one time or another. I had one of these last week and it was awful.

Below is an excerpt from Web MD for ways to cope with chronic pain in non pharmaceutical ways -

* Massage. A lot of people find relief from gentle massage, and some hospice agencies have volunteers who are trained in massage therapy. Several studies have found that massage is effective in relieving pain and other symptoms for people with serious illness.

* Relaxation techniques. Guided imagery, hypnosis, biofeedback, breathing techniques, and gentle movement such as tai chi. Relaxation techniques are often very effective, particularly when a patient -- or a caregiver -- is feeling anxious.

* Acupuncture. Several studies have found that acupuncture can be helpful in relieving pain for people with serious illnesses such as cancer.

* Physical therapy. If a person has been active before and is now confined to bed, even just moving the hands and feet a little bit can help.

* Pet therapy. If you have bouts of pain that last 5, 10, or 15 minutes, trying to find something pleasant -- like petting an animal's soft fur -- to distract and relax yourself can be helpful.

* Gel packs. These are simple packs that can be warmed or chilled and used to ease localized pain

You can also use things like frozen peas if you don't have any gel packs. I also have an electrical heating bad for my back when it's acting up. You can always use heat strips as well, or sprays. I can't use the sprays though they bring me out in a rash unfortunately.

Hope this helps doll and I hope you feel much better soon

Harper xx

Hi Koomaroo2

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted for you below a link to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:

fmauk.org/

When my pain becomes too much I use a TENS Machine and I personally find this helps me a great deal.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

And to you too x

I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I've had the same for a couple of days and the pain stopped yesterday evening. I couldn't sleep last night as I was so relieved not to be scrunched up in agony.

I've found Salonpas patches help. Can be used with all oral painkillers safely.

I also use Perskindol gel and heat. Hot water bottles, gel packs or wheat bags. I've got a sleep App on my phone that gives choice of a mix of sounds, plus there's a free sleep meditation.

Magnesium spray has helped with twitchy, restless legs and I think it helps a bit with the pain in my feet.

I really hope the worst pain abates soon.

Hi welcome to the group ...

Hope your pain is a bit better today...

Please with electric blanket don't use if you have a memory foam topper or mattress ...

But you could put it on the sofa and a duvet .

I also have ATN and I find that when I'm in a lot of pain I try to trick the brain... it sounds mad but everything helps... how it works is shapes and colours .. ie ... say yellow square, green circle , purple rectangle etc and the brain is so busy trying to visualise these that it is working on that for a bit not the pain.

Good luck and again welcome .. happy healing thoughts x

Atypical trigeminal neuralgia. My gran has this and she describes it like a constant migraine. Apparently it can burn for her sometimes too. It doesn't sound pleasant at all xx
