Makes sense Ccupcakes thanx for sharing xx

Could be some truth in this BUT- I find the americans go over the top on emphasis and often state the worsed case scenario, just my opinion we don't get as much sun as they do!

They are too scared going out, because of the gun culture.

Very true, they are quite excitable arent they!

However, I didn't know that my levels were low until they were screened as part of my Chemo bloods, I have had skin cancer and do use high factor sunscreen all over, even in winter, was really surprised, hadn't even thought about it!

More Sun would be good tho wouldn't it? Xx

I have found over the time ive been on our forum, lots of people think they should take extra vits..as a retired nurse and a sufferer I always advise only after a blood test on your levels, I think that includes VitD, not many realise that taking extra without being checked can cause an overdose and terrible skin condiitons plus allergies galore, its easy to top them up but not so easy to dilute an overdose!

They keep on saying to have your skin exposed to the sun for about three 10 minutes mid day as the sun screen CA block out our absorbtion if the necessary rays. Mind you as we have said beforehand chance if enough sun would be a good thing.

Strangely I have just been reading a large article in The Times that many people are taking a unnecessarily large dose if Vitamin Deficiencies D and would be better getting it from natural resources such as their food. The columnist was saying too much could do more harm than good as it is not a Vitamin Like Vitamin C that is flushed out if the body. I know alot of fibromites are really lacking in Vitamin C. In the end like so many things you en up not knowing who to believe.😕x

To be honest ,like a lot of us I am on so many meds that I rattle like a baby's toy anyway, so I don't take anything not prescribed, thankfully my Rheumy is on the ball and I trust her.

I do think it's an easy trap to fall into tho, every time something is hyped up as being a wonder cure, to consider it as such, fibro is such a difficult disease that it wouldn't be human not to have hope that just once, the hype may be right!

And yes absolutely there are definite dangers in overdosing certain vitamins, especially when we're taking a complex mixture of prescribed meds.

In the end, I think, and it's only a personal opinion, I am not a doctor or Rheumy or haematologist and I do not know the significance of all of my blood results, so I leave it to those that are trained to know.

LI am aware tho that I'm lucky, my healthcare team are good and not everyone can say that.

Hi Ccupcakes

Thank you so much for sharing this my friend it is truly appreciated. There is a campaign in the NHS at the moment, and I have pasted a link to the NHS Choices cache entitled: The new guidelines on vitamin D – what you need to know. They recommend that everyone in the UK takes a supplement over winter.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Greetings Ccupcakes. Thank you for posting this article.

I am a melinated person who never uses suncreen and has vitD deficiancy . The only time I feel even nearly well is when I am in the sun. It's what my skintone was made for. I would suggest that those who want to take a vitD suppememt take vitD3 as this is the only one that is absorbed properly by the body.

VitD is linked to chronic pain as well as other health issues. My pain definately lessens when I leave England and go somewhere warmer and sunny, even for a few weeks.

Peace, blessings and a pain-free day to you. Hope the sun comes out :)
