Once again I experience an illegal and unfortunate set of circumstances leading to me being in an establishment I dont need to be in and having to eventually tell my mother that if she keeps on talking about me like she does I'll take her to court for slander / or whatever it is. I didn't want it to get to this point but I just had to tell her. Annoyingly and unbelievably I had to argue with the mental health people to persuade them to help me by simply standing next to me whilst my mother was visiting to re-inforce to her that my health records are my own and she has no right to know whether I take medication or not. So, I had to persuade/advise "my" mental health team of the fact that I have patient confidentiality rights. Ridiculous.
Anyway, it has resulted in me being prescribed a new medication called Aripiprazole. A side effect in the notes albeit very uncommon, being sudden death. Lol. Anybody know much about it?

I really am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend and it must be truly awful for you to have to do this. I have pasted two excerpts below about this medication:
*Wikipedia
*Aripiprazole, sold under the brand name Abilify among others, is an atypical antipsychotic. It is recommended and primarily used in the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Wikipedia
Molar mass: 448.385 g/mol
CAS ID: 129722-12-9
Bioavailability: 87%
**NHS Choices
**Antipsychotic medicines
Antipsychotic medicines are sometimes prescribed to treat episodes of mania or hypomania. Antipsychotic medicines include:
aripiprazole
olanzapine
quetiapine
risperidone
They may also be used as a long-term mood stabiliser. Quetiapine may also be used for long-term bipolar depression.
Antipsychotic medicines can be particularly useful if symptoms are severe or behaviour is disturbed. As antipsychotics can cause side effects – such as blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation and weight gain – the initial dose will usually be low.
If you're prescribed an antipsychotic medicine, you'll need to have regular health checks at least every three months, but possibly more often, particularly if you have diabetes. If your symptoms don't improve, you may be offered lithium and valproate as well.
Aripiprazole is also recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as an option for treating moderate to severe manic episodes in adolescents with bipolar disorder.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
My psychiatrist prescribed me aripiprazole a few months back after I didn't get on with lots of other meds. I can say for me personally that I have the least side effects with these. Like all other antipsychotics though they do make you very sleepy. Sorry to hear about your troubles at the moment. It's important that you take your medication though. If you find for any reason that they are not working or that you are experiencing bad side effects then please go back to your psychiatrist . X
