Confused with painkillers and doctors
Hello Gilly14
Welcome to the forum
It would be nice to know some more about you. Have you suffered with Fibromyalgia for long?
Do you have other conditions to contend with as well?
If you have a look on our mother site you'll find lots of information about Fibro on there fmauk.org
Are you asking if there is one tablet that would take the place of the 14 you are already taking?
I am not medically trained, but as far as I am aware there is not just one tablet that could take the place of what you are currently on.
However, I think the best thing you can do is to make an appointment with your GP to discuss your meds and see if there is anything different they can suggest.
The problem with Fibro is there is not a one size fits all for anything. The reason for this is that Fibro is tailor made to each person and we all suffer to different degrees.

Hi hun, maybe ask g.p to re refer you to rheumatologist as g.p,s are restricted on prescribing very strong analgesia! IF what you currently take isn't taking the edge off a rheumo doc might prescribe pain patches (like fentanyl) or pain injections but it has to be recommended before g.p can give it you.. Good luck.
Hi Gilly14 The maximum dose for gabapentin is 3,600 daily, so upping your gabapentin would be the most sensible thing for you GP to do I would think but I'm not a doctor. The other option is for him to maybe change your pain medication, Codiene are an alternative and i have done this in the past, went from tram.to Cod. & it did help. I now also have a Butrans Patch which constantly gives you a small amount of buprenorphine and i have found they definitely help.
Also I take amitriptyline and this is a drug that is commonly prescribed to help the symptoms of Fibro & i can't function if I don't take them, I immediately start getting muscle spasms & can't relax to sleep at all.
Hope this helps
Luv Jan xx
Hi Gilly14
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance.
As the others have intimated, you may be better off asking for a referral to either Rheumatology or a Pain management Clinic. As what you are asking about are very strong medications that may have restrictions on them?
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
