Hi Girlie32 I find for myself, if I cut out sugar as much as I can & try to eat healthy, I do feel better. I have IBS, like many people with Fibro suffer with, so i have to avoid certain foods, peppers, certain spices, pastry, bread, I always find when I diet, I feel better. Hope this helps.

Definitely. I have been eating a crazy amount of fruit and veg the last 2 weeks , my pain and stiffness have subsided and my mood is much brighter. Hit a brick wall with tiredness the last two days, but i feel that's ok it will pass in time. When I eat nothing but junk food, I feel sluggish, bloated and low in mood. X

Hello Girlie32 and a warm welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can find advice, support, help and understanding as well as a chuckle or two to lighten the day.

Have you seen our Mother Site fmauk.org ? Here you will find a wealth of information including guides and links.

Many members struggle with IBS as one of their symptoms and have found eating gluten free products helpful.

There is also a train of thought that eating from the nightshade family adds to our pain and fatigue, things like potatoes, tomatoes and peppers.

I am afraid a lot of it is trial and error unfortunately.

I think it is a case of balance our diets so unless there is a medical reason having something from all the food groups so hopefully we get the majority of the vitamins and minerals we can from our food.

I think if IBS etc is a problem you have e to try and work around those foods that cause problems so we might not be able to eat as healthily as we want. Eg if I have too many fruit and veg and I live them the. I get stomach spasms. If it is possible get fresh unprocessed foods.

I know when we are ill making a meal from scratch every day might be difficult so this of batch cooking when you are feeling well enough so you have something nutritious and home cooked in the freezer to fall back on.

Too much sugar or carbohydrates are our enemy as they just add to the tired feeling but don't cut them out all together as if we having nothing to look forward to we soon revert back to unhealthy eating. I still have a cake but just once a week. I always have fruit there to nibble on if I get the munchies. Often people find that trying to cut caffeine down or out completely helps as it can sometimes be in our meds already.

The one thing we have to remember is unless you are one of the lucky ones who can still be as active as before the illness struck we do the need the calories we did before. Also some drugs give us the tendency to out on weight so we should probably eat off a smaller plate! Do still try to do as much exercise as you possibly can as diet alone can only do so much.

How this helps.x

Hi Girlie32

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I personally believe that we are all different in this respect. I am allergic to quit a few food stuffs that would to bother others. There are many members that suffer with IBS, whereby I do not.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
