Thanks ...Went to Dr today as my back has been killing me after a motor accident in October I had an xray nothing showed up so he decided nothing bad can be wrong he decided physio...I told him that it will make it worse...I was told to I can't have a scan or MRI until I been to physio I can't do physio as too much pain even with gabapentin so don't know what to do I can't tolerate any more pain ....

Hi My-chinaman thank you for chatting.

How can you start physio when the problem has not been diagnosed.

I would have thought an mri scan would have been done earlier.

If you have to prove that physio is too painful then go to the first appointment or is there another doc at the practice you can see.

Are you on any other meds for pain?

Sorry to hear that. I think your doc could give you something stronger than paracetamol.

I use a lot of heat and it helps.

If you felt that ill your probably should get checked over, be on the safe side darling.

Take care hun xx

Hi My-chinaman

I am sorry to hear you are struggling like this.

It seems your doctor has decided that you do not have a spinal or disc problem because your xrays are clear, and that the pain you are suffering is likely to be caused by soft tissue damage.

This means you do need to see the physio, even if it is just to hear what they say.

He/She will examine you and note if various movements are making the pain worse. It could be that they may not be able to help you with exercises, in which case they will refer you back to your GP.

It is at this point he will decide if further examinations by scan or mri will be necessary.

It can feel a bit of a tick box exercise, and one which you have to go through, especially if you are relying on sick notes from your doctor, or a report to claim for injury compensation from the driver of the car.

I know it seems a waste of time and effort but you may be pleasantly surprised that physio could help you after all. You won't know for certain until you try it.

Hi my friend

I am so genuinely sorry to read this and I have to agree with angiesmith50 that physio seems inappropriate since the you do not have a diagnosis for your back injury? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck my friend, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi so sorry your pain is beyond unbearable it's so debilitating and only so much pain we can handle but glad you posted as support is medication in itself especially my experience here . All I can say is it was my physio who had more nouse about her and got me scans and referrals sorted so please go along to appointment it hopefully be worth it for you . Also I believe any pain seems to be worse for me when weather cold too or even raining so try heat like you said it may give you a bit of comfort. Take care and let us all know how you are and getting on

Hi chinaman physio will assess soft tissue injury as this will not show up on X-ray . They can also send you for hydrotherapy which is exercise in warm water, this is one of the few exercises that are beneficial to fibro peeps as water supports your weight and heat eases the muscles. They can also refer you to other departments and consultants so definately worth going to see them, even if they only refer you back to gp as your in too much pain, the gp will then have to send you for further investigation, or rheumatology or pain clinic etc. Good luck
