Last shift and almost done. I feel sore everywhere though. Literally gonna cry. If I could tell you the number of times I've had to sit and stand, walk, lift and transfer in the last 4 hours you wouldn't believe me. I can't do nursing. This is quite harder than it was 25 years ago. Why does this pain seem so intolerable? I am so tired, just had to vent.

3.5 hours to go...
Hi looking4me
I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your last shift my friend. Good luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Your so kind, and have such a caring heart. All my hopes and dreams for u too! I managed to finish it, but I kept thinking to myself... just how debilitated I've become. It's an eye opening experience when your 44 and feel like i live in an older body. I watched nurses much older than me carry on with such ease. It saddens me when I know it's time to move on. But at the same time a sense of relief to come to terms with our illness and look after ourselves.
I'm guessing you're retiring from nursing just from the way I read your post? I'm sorry you've reached that point and I'm so sad for your pain 😔. All the best with the next stage of your journey- Kia kaha
I hope that now you have got to the end of your last shift you can look after yourself and rest.
There is a lot of difference between a stroll on a beautful sumners day and fighting our way through a howling gale. Both the same distance but we rarely get to choose when we have to get from A to B and often forget that skipping down a hill one way is a lot easier than climbing back up it the other.
You are an angel....I bet none of the patients you nursed in your last shift had any idea you were in so much pain.....I hope you now have time to be gentle with yourself and listen to your body when it tells you "No more today, you have done enough"! Gentle hugs xx
Hi looking4me
I am sorry you are suffering so much and having to work that last shift must have felt like torture.
At least now you can rest and build up your strength and take life at a gentler pace.
Be kind to yourself
Kay
No, looking4me , nursing is quite impossible to do with fibro. As a retired nurse myself I know how much reward nursing gives you and how hard it is to give it up, but you need to sleep and pace and find your own natural limits. I hope that is possible for you and that you can find a way to live that does not beat you up. Gentle hugs. Anna xx
Hi Look4me,
Ouch, ouch, ouch.
I hope you find something you can do and that getting out of nursing helps your illness.
You expressed where I end up after a day at work, like you were I am trying so hard to stay working but not doing well at the moment.
Have been off for another 2wks and due to see the OH Nurse on Thurs. I really thought that I would be feeling better by now but it aint working this time.
The pain that develops during a shift was just getting worse and worse and then got symptoms - high temp. sinusitis, sore throat and that did stop me.
Ears still blocked and head heavy, heart even heavier!!
Thought was going to work til 60 but the Government says 66! So have 6 yrs to wade through....
Just gonna let it all go for today and enjoy it as best I can...sky blue, sun shining n nice n cool
Me wasting a day fretting will do no good and maybe if I let it all go something more constructive will move in....
Enjoy your day and love to know how you get on

The very best of luck my friend! I do hope you find something more suitable for your health?
Take good care xx
I'm on sick leave now, it's nice to take a break from work. My employers were rude but whatever. I've been trying to rack my brain and getting anxiety about my future. That's the biggest worry 😳
