Guiafenesin Protocol

Hi

I'm new to this so not sure what i'm doing.

Diagnosed a couple of years ago. Main symptoms are fatique, aching muscles and brain fog. Tried Pregabalin and anti-depressants but nothing worked so currently drug free.

I have been reading about how amazing Guaifenesin can be as Fibro treatment and wondered if anyone on this site was taking it? If so can anyone tell me which tablets are the best and where i can get them from in the UK?

Also I need to buy new cosmetics etc to do the protocol (no Salisylate) anyone know of any UK products that are safe? The list I have are US products and although can be brought in Uk often have different ingredients. All Cleure products are safe but I don't know anywhere that sells them in UK.

Thanks

Hello and welcome Racoonicus.....(Great name) I assume by what you say you live abroad. I cannot answer your med query about what works and what doesn't but the only way we get prescription drugs is through our doctors/hospital. We all differ in what works and some swear by some drugs and others react badly or don't react at all. As far as the make up is concerned when I was first diagnosed in the early 90's I chucked all my make-up and bought products with no Sallisylate.....I had to research on line to get them....sorry to say made no difference!!! I hope you find what you are looking for and are having as good a day as possible...xx

Hi Trikki

Thanks for the reply. When you changed your cosmetics etc. did you also start taking Guiafenesin? You are apparently meant to feel worse while the drug starts to work, then you gradually feel better. Fingers crossed

No I wasn't prescribed Guiafenesin...But I did waste a lot of money on new make-up etc...hope it works for you...

Hi Trikki

that' a shame you were not told about the Guiafenesin, especially after you had gone to all the trouble to get the cosmetics. Dr's in UK haven't heard about it and changing your cosmetic apparently won't work alone you need to take Guai too, so Yes it was probably very bad advice and a waste of money:(( With this protocol you can't drink tea either, which is going to be the worse part for me :( The books an interesting read- see reply to Teakse below for Title and Author if you fancy having a look. I got it on kindle for about £5

Hi there

I gather you are in the UK?

Unfortunately I am unable to help you with this, as I have never heard of it.

Hopefully our Ken TheAuthor may be able to find some information out for you when he comes along later.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Hi Hidden

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance.

Unfortunately I cannot endorse Guiafenesin as it is really only a cough medicine like the ones listed below:

Also known as: Actifed CC Chesty Cough, Air Power, Allfen Jr, Altarussin, Altorant, Amibid LA, Anti-Tuss, Aquamist, Balminil Expectorant, Beechams Veno's Expectorant, Beechams Veno's for Kids Chesty Cough, Benadryl Chesty Forte, Benylin E, Bidex-400, Breonesin, ... etc ... etc .. to a total of 118 brands.

I have heard some folk say it has helped them but there is (as far as I am aware) any scientific evidence to substantiate this? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck if you decide to give it a try?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi Thanks for reply.

The Guiafenesin needs to be pure, as cough mixtures contain salisylates which block it. You can't get in Uk so I have ordered from the US. You are right that there is no scientific evidence but it's worth a go. All of the horrible medications I have haven't worked either so I have nothing to loose, and I'm not going to do what my Dr suggested and 'learn to live with it!!!!'

Hopefully in a few months I'll have some positive feedback

thanks Racoonicus

Thanks Hidden I did not think it was available in the UK. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck and I would be very interested to know how it goes my friend?

Hi here in the US we take guaifenesin, off the shelf, and we take if for congestion, stuffy nose and sinus pressure. It may be used for something else in your country. I never had this much pain a year and a half ago.

Hi. Thanks for reply

I read 'what your Dr may not tell you about Fibromyalgia' by R Paul St Amand. It says if you take Guaifenesin, which as you say is a decongestant, and remove all salicylates from your cosmetics and meds it can reverse Fibro. The Guiafenesin should be in pure fomr and not in cough mixtures etc. as these contain salicylates. I'm going to give it a go. I've found a website in US where I can get Guai but it's sourcing the cosmetics etc that's proving hard in the UK. By the time the Guia arrives I hopefully will have sourced everything. I'm fed up of feeling ill so will give anything a try. Loads of people swear by this protocol. I'll let you know how I get on
