I suffer from the dreaded thing that goes under the banner of fibromyalgia. Tried varies tablets injections and my specialist suggested I try pain patches I got all geared up as you do as I thought it would help

Well my GP is not happy as he thinks it will affect my breathing as I have asthma. Has anyone else tried these pain patches and did it affect your breathing

Hi Andrea, I suffer from asthma and have had to come off meds that were helping because they affected my breathing. I have been using Licodaine pain patches on my shoulder area as they are always in spasm, they do help with pain and have had no effect on my asthma. Have used them on and off for over a year, no problem. Hope you get to try them

I am 30 years into my life sentence.

I have asthma along with a million other things.

I used the BuTrans patches. I worked up to 20 mg. They didn't affect my breathing or my asthma.

Was your specialist not aware of your asthma?

Talk to your GP about lidocaine patches, they are a topical medication, that come in patches you can cut up and put where the pain is initially. It's only if you are allergic to lidocaine, that you might suffer side effects. I have suggested to lots of people on this site to try, you are the third tonight.

I have used them for two years, and working with my GP have developed a way of reducing pain levels whilst maintaining mobility. Rather than bore people here with another long post (yawn), PM me if you want more details.

andrena , It's my understanding that mist pain meds can affect your breathing.I do think your gp is correct to be concerned. Good luck.Peck 🐤

Hi I don't know about the patches but morphine can affect your breathing so I thing the patches are stronger. I have had no problems with it though as a tablet and liquid.

I tried them few years ago for my back and they worked quite well for that,but it is true they do affect your breathing so may not be apropiate for you with your asthma x

Yes i have asthma and use Lidocaine patches and have had no problems.Must add that my asthma is well controlled. They help me if I have the burning neuropathic pain. Hope you are at least a!lowed to have a trial of them.x

Hello Andrea I have seasonal asthma & bronchospasm & am on Butrans 20 for the last 2 years as well as morphine tablets daily & lots of other medication. It has never affected my breathing thank goodness. The pain without the pain relief would affect the asthma as I could not inhale or exhale very well. Thanks for your suggestions I will ask the doctor. Have had pneumonia twice in the last year so if l have problems with my breathing I panic
