Does fybromyalgia get worse ?

Ive been trying to ghink when this all started and i think it was after i had breast cancer three years ago. This last two years has got worse😯 not sure if it does that or stays at the same level? Anyone know?

Hidden , Sorry your pain has gotten worse I don't know why it does thst.Mine seems to get worse with my age, don't know if it's FM pain or just getting older.Maybe between all of us we can figure it out. Have a good day . Peck.🐤

Hi cherrylin, I feel the same, my pain and fatigue as deffo got worse over the last couple of years and the foggy brain, I'm 45 and feel 95 lol be interesting to see if others have the same pattern x

Well I am 69 (shhhh!) have had Fibro since my early 40's along with osteo arthritis....We are all so different but personally it has got worse...but then I have got older!! Difficult to make my mind up.....

I was first diagnosed when I was 40 ish ... and I am now 47.... every other month I get new symptoms and the pain gets worse . my latest is insomnia ... and itchy skin .. although to be fair I thought the itchy skin was always bearable but not lately as it is keeping me awake ....

and as for the pain . mine is progressively getting worse ..

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you had cancer, and I sincerely hope that you are in remission now? As for Fibro, officially it is not a progressive illness but I do feel that mine has got worse over the last couple of years.

I hate to hear of anyone's pain increasing. So sorry for everyone. I was diagnosed with fibro, about 8 years ago. Thinking of the symptoms I have had, that I'm told are due to the fibro, I have had some of these symptoms as a kid. I also, have the fibro along with osteo arthritis, you throw in that dam fibro fog and my asthma when it flares up! God bless! I have always tried to find things to focus on, gardening, music, swimming...stand up comedy

My fibro pain has decreased along with a big decrease in stress in my life. I think the 2 are very much related. I used to have many burning knots of pain (trigger points) and muscle cramps and dull aching muscles all over my body. Now I have only the occasional sore muscle from overuse. I know exactly when an activity of mine is causing some muscle strain and can stop what I'm doing to prevent a serious problem. This is because that 1 pain is the only one I have from fibro. I'm not including arthritis pain. So YES fibro pain can improve and get better even after it's been bad for many years.

Hi Cherrylin,

At 14 I was originally diagnosed with costochondritis and although the inflammation eventually went from my rib muscles I've had chest and rib pain ever since. The pain spread outwards effecting my shoulders and hips then my legs and arms. As this happened I developed other symptoms like fatigue, fibro fog etc and eventually I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. So my fibro has definitely gotten worse over the last 4 years and it seems to be a pattern with most people I know who have it. It is worrying but try to not assume that it's going to keep getting worse, each case of fibro is different and strengthening muscles gradually and gentle exercise has helped lots of people have less symptoms and get better!
