Morning Uggycat.....love the name!! Unfortunately Fibro affects our bodies in all different ways, mental as well as physical. Have you spoken with your doctor about your "mental state" as he needs to know to assess the best meds for you. Anxiety, stress, worry all affect our pain levels....which isn't good! I do hope your day is as good as it can be.....

Trikki x

PS: You can share all you like as we all understand.

Hello uggycat

Welcome to the forum :)

As you are so newly diagnosed you may find it helpful to take a look at our mother site for a wealth of information on Fibromyalgia fmauk.org

Do you mind me asking whether you waited a long time for a diagnosis?

Due to the fact that (for some) Fibromyalgia means constant severe pain and fatigue it can be very hard to accept that this is the way life is going to be from now on. Acceptance is a large part of having a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and it can take some time to truly come to terms with having this condition.

Fibro can be managed to a certain extent with medication, vitamins and gentle exercise.

Have you made an appointment to see your GP to discuss how you are feeling? It may be a good idea for you to do this.

Unfortunately getting a formal diagnosis, can make many of us feel bereft and at a loss as to what happens now.

I don't think that you will look back now you have found us. We are a very inclusive forum where everyone is welcome to join in with everything that is happening.

You will find that you make many new friends here who all understand how you feel.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

hi ugglycat, it affects me badly physically and everyone will tell you im just mental lol

but yes it affects me mentally too. forgetting words, struggling to make ppl understand what im going on about. it can be hard, but as bluemermaid said acceptance is a big part of coping.

we all have a good moan on here so feel free, but we also have fun, laughter is the best medicine or so they say

hugs xx

Hi there uggycat & welcome to the forum ☺ I'm sorry you have been diagnosed with Fibro & unfortunately yes it does effect you mentally.

The term for it is Fibro fog & many people get forgetful, I forget what day it is sometimes, I mean like, I forgot my birthday lol..I find it very difficult to concentrate on anything for long, it effects you emotionally when you can't physically do what you once could. It does make a lot of ppl. With Fibro suffer with depression, living with chronic pain.

What I will say though, is it effects everyone differently & some ppl.seem to have it more severe than others & may often have other problems, like myself, I also have Arthritis.

But you have come to the right place & I'm sure you will love the forum as we all do.

Peace, luv n light

Have discussed fibromyalgia a little with him , When I get to grips with this site, will open up a whole new world of help. Think I have posted, that not ignoring you all, but not that good with computers xxx

Hi uggycat, I hope you enjoy it here, unfortunately we all suffer with one thing or another, but the beauty is we never close, no matter what time you feel like a chat someone is always about. Tonight I've tried 3 times to get to sleep but nope here I am again. It's a great site, even though we don't see one another, we can speak freely with one another as if we've known each other all our lives. And you are never judged here. Wishing you the best ❤️X
