Possible TMJ ?
There isn't always a clicking sound with it. Sometimes just the pain and that locked feeling. As Hidden says because you have the toothache could be an infection which is pressing on nerves. Do hope the dentist can solve the problem tomorrow.x
My face pain is caused by tight muscles. I find relief my gently rubbing muscles that are on and around my collar bone. I follow it to my shoulders and right where they meet is a very sore muscle that goes up into my neck which connects to muscles that connect to my face muscle, or something. All my muscles pull on one another and cause other ones to hurt.
I don't know if that is happening with you, but figured it won't hurt to offer it.
Good luck, I hope you pain eases soon.
Hi larissa
I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend, and as the others have said it could be ''TMJ.'' I would definitely get this checked out by your GP or Medical Specialist my friend just to have this ruled out of the equation. Or talk to your dentist tomorrow?
I have pasted for you below the *NHS Choices cache on this and a link to their page:
*Introduction
Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a problem affecting the 'chewing' muscles and the joints between the lower jaw and the base of the skull.
Doctors sometimes refer to the condition as "myofascial pain disorder".
It's been estimated that up to 30% of adults will experience TMD at some point in their lives.
The condition itself isn't usually serious, and the symptoms it can cause – including pain, jaw joint clicking or popping, and difficulties eating – usually only last a few months before getting better.
However, these symptoms can significantly lower quality of life, and specialist treatment might be required if they're severe.
What are the symptoms?
TMD can cause:
clicking, popping or grating noises as you chew or move your mouth
muscle pain around the jaw
pain in front of the ear that may spread to the cheek, ear and temple
difficulty opening the mouth – the jaw may feel tight, as if it is stuck, making eating difficult
headache or migraine
earache or a "buzzing" or blocked sensation in the ear
pain in other areas of the body – such as n
eckache or backache
These symptoms may lead to related symptoms, such as disturbed sleep.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Speak with your dentist when you see them tomorrow and he should be able to confirm it one way or another (or refer you to Oral/Max specialist).
One of the first things I was asked was how far can you open your mouth without it being painful - you should be able to get the breadth of three fingers vertically into your mouth (I can't even manage two) tmjdysfunction.net/tmj_symp... shows you how.
I have quite bad TMJ - I get Botox injected into the offending muscle every few months (one is due in the next three weeks and can't come soon enough!).
With mine there's no clicking but my lower jaw often slips sideways when I'm talking or eating & I frequently end up biting the side of my tongue (even knocked a filling or two out!). I get pain in my jaw, my teeth often hurt due to clenching & grinding them or when the muscle is so tight I can't open my mouth. The roof of my mouth is often painful too.
i have had terrible t oothache which the dentist says is not the teeth and need to see a neurosurgeon!!!
