I have full blown fibro for over 50 years and it's not fun , everything hurts . Hope you get some help x😇

Hi pint 133 Why does your doctor need permission to investigate further? I find as well that activity one day means you pay for it the next. I am sure you will find this site and the people on it very helpful, both with information and moral support. Keep well. Lyzzie.

Welcome to the site you will soon find your way ariund.

Just a thought could it be that yours is what they call a teaching practice where a junior doctor who wants to send a patient to a specialist has to present their case to a senior and get permission. This happens at my friend's surgery.

Do give the physio a go as I am the same as you. The physio gave me quite a few exercises, some made me worse and I told him and I dropped them but others,I have stuck with. These gave made me more flexible and able to reach up further and make each step longer.

Goodluck with everything.x

Hi there

Welcome to the forum :)

I am sorry to hear you are having such a frustrating time. I know it doesn't help your situation, but it is a very familiar story.

Diagnosing Fibromyalgia is extremely difficult to the fact that there are other conditions that have the same symptoms, and these need to be ruled out first.

I am wondering if this is what your GP is talking about with regard to needing permission to investigate further. I am only guessing though!

As has been said, a Rheumatologist is the Consultant that specialises in diagnosing Fibro, although doctors (GP's), and increasingly Neurologists can also diagnose it.

I can see that you have been given our mother site, which is well worth a look fmauk.org

It may be worth sounding out your GP and asking her what her views on referring you to a Rheumatologist are and see what she says.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Lu x

Hi pint 133 ,Welcome,

My Dr told me for five years that my various chronic joint pains was wear and tear.

I was getting really fed up and fustated so I told him straight that I wasn't happy and that he was not taking me serious, I said could you refer me to a rhymtoligist please, which he eventually did. Well was pleased to get a dignoize once at the hospital ,after doing a few tests and the rhymtoligist going through my history.

He said you have fibromyalgia, he said he would send a email to my dr informing him what wrong with me...Am just so pleased i finally know what wrong with me..my Dizzy spells are real bad at moment..not sure if it to do with medication am taking..Please push your dr and tell them to refer you.good luck.xx

Hi pint133

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your quittance. I am so genuinely sorry to read of your suffering and struggling and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to these issues.

Usually ''wear and tear'' is something a doctor refers to as Arthritis. However, you can have both Fibro and Arthritis. I have pasted you a link below to the NHS Choices cache on this:

nhs.uk/Conditions/Arthritis...

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
