First time on here!

Hi this is my first time on here. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about a year ago. I thought being on here might give me some help knowing other people know how I feel. I have pain all over, and am gutted that I have this after everything I've been through. To cut a long story short I had an accident 15 years ago where I dislocated my knee, and the bone went through the nerves. It took two years for nerves to heal to as good as they are going to be. I'm left with pain weakness and a dropped foot and a very unstable knee. Then I had excruciating pain in other knee and after two years of investigation found pain was coming from my hips. I had two hip replacements. I had a few good months and then fibro happened. I am so fed up with having pain! The worst being the tops of my arms, I cannot lift them up, sometimes I go to pick up a cup of tea and my arm gives way, does anyone else have this?

Welcome Westiebabe to this friendly forum you ahve come to the right place for a chat and a bit of support. Have you had a chance to ahve a look at our mother site Fibromyalgia Action UK as there is a wealth of information on there about symptoms and different sorts of meds and therapies as there might be something of interest to you.

I get that in my hands and wrists rather than my shoulders I think I have picked up something safely and either I get a searing pain through them or suddenly it as though sensation is lost and the effect is just the same something dropped on the floor. It is so infuriating and as we know can be quite dangerous.

I know others on here have had alot of problems with shoulders and upper arms so I hope they can perhaps give some advice or support. Take care.x

Hello Westiebabe

Welcome to the forum :) You have found a wonderful place to come for help, advice, tips and humour too.

As you are fairly newly diagnosed you may like to have a look at our mother site for more information on Fibromyalgia fmauk.org

Fibromyalgia is tailor made to each person, and so we very much suffer in different ways to each other.

Are you taking any meds for your pain? If not, if maybe an idea to make an appointment to see your GP. Also, your GP can refer you for different things, some of which are Pain Clinic, Pain Management Clinic, physio, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

I very much hope that you will enjoy the forum. Everyone is incredibly kind, caring and compassionate.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Hi

I'm so sorry to read everything you've been trough and that now you have fibro.

I am sure that you will get lots of support and help from all the lovely people on this site.

I am right handed and do find that the pain in my right arm and hand, fingers is worse than my left. I don't know if that's the reason why, it's just my guess.

Like you sometimes I can't hold anything or wash my hair etc.

Are you on meds from your dr?

I use Volterol gel, heat treatment, gentle massage and take extra vits and magnesium.

Someone did suggest rubbing in magnesium oil, haven't tried it though.

Good luck and I hope you get something to help soon.

Best wishes 🌺

Thank you everyone for your comments . I'm on naproxen , tramadol and paracetamol. I use a tens machine, heat pads, heat cream. Bio freeze . I love my electric blanket if I'm in pain all over I lie down with that on and it does help me to sleep. I do find lots of differing opinions from people when I say have fibro and a lot don't seem as if they believe it actually is an illness which doesn't help me at all😞
