Hope everyone has had a good day. I'm relatively new to this, was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with Fibro after suffering pain for 7 months. Took at least a dozen visits to see a doctor so trialling pain meds now. I also have painful ribs and breastbone etc. When the pain is bad (like now!), my stomach bloats really quickly. Also, my IBS has been much worse since it started. Just wondered if anyone else suffers these symptoms?
This site has been really helpful so far, I've read some interesting posts which have offered some reassurance - glad I joined! x

Welcome to the forum You are actually incredibly lucky to have had a diagnosis so quickly.
Many of us on the forum have waited years, some even decades to get a definitive diagnosis.
If you have a look at our mother site you will find lots of interesting information on Fibromyalgia and a list of common symptoms fmauk.org
The painful ribs and chest could be a conditon called Chostochondritis. It's where the chest wall is inflamed. However, all chest pain should be treated seriously. I would highly recommend that you speak to your GP about the pain and get it checked out. If you get sudden pain you should call 999.
The bloating is associated with IBS and attacks can be triggered from anything like too spicy food or even stress.
Both of the above conditions are very common in people who suffer with Fibromyalgia.
I should point out that I am not medically trained but am just speaking from my own personal experiences of these symptoms.
I very much hope that you continue to enjoy the forum. I have made some truly wonderful lifelong friendships here.
Thanks for your response. I do have Costochondritis, that's how it all began and then it spread - lucky me!
I've noticed some people suffer for years but I was lucky enough to eventually see a doctor who took me seriously. She is really good, which I'm thankful for. I've had IBS for years but it has been really bad in recent months - it's nice to see that I'm not alone.
I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any tips or advice. Wishing everyone a peaceful, pain free night x
My personal advice to you would be to only try one medication at a time otherwise you don't know what's working and what isn't. It is a matter of trial and error and can take some time to find the right set of meds for you.
What works for one person doesn't always work for someone else.
Learning to pace yourself is very important but incredibly hard to do. You might like to Google the Spoon Theory to learn more about it.
Acceptance is huge. I have had Fibro for 30 years and if I'm perfectly honest I haven't really fully accepted it. I still long for the days when I worked in a job that I loved and had so much energy.
I'm sure other members will be along soon with suggestions to help you.
Hello and welcome, cant add much to what Lu has said, do mention the bloating to your GP, I have made some small changes to diet and am slowly introducing foods to see the reaction, you do need medical input though, there are other reasons for the awful bloating. Lou x
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering and struggling and I sincerely hope that your medications work well for you.
I have Costachondritis in the ribs just like you and I take a drug called Nefopam for this and it does help me a little as it takes the edge of my pain. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.
Hi and welcome, can't really add much, but as Lu said wow that was a quick diagnoses. I suffer with the IBS as well, and the bloat is normal. But I do watch everything I eat, and always check labels for Lactose, including Meds. Take care.
Hi I've not got a lot to add. I have diverticulitis which causes a lot of bloating, my consultant has told me to drink boiled water especially after i take my fybogel. I can't tell you you it will take away the bloating but it won't hurt to try it.i hope you feel better soon😉xx rosie
