Mobility Scooter Question

Can anyone advise where to sell mobility scooters, my partner has 2 which he would like to sell, one is a fairly traditional scooter but the other is Australian and can (and does) reach speeds of 20 miles per hour!

I'm sorry if this is not the correct place but thought someone out there would know.

Thanks xx

I think normally in the UK the mobility scooters are restricted to a maximum of 8mph so people may not be so keen to buy the Australian unfortunately. Most local free papers have a Mobility/Elderly section where you can advertise it. You might be able to put up a poster in local disabled/elderly centres to advertise it or they may know of someone who wants to buy it secondhand. I know when I was an advisor for the elderly I married up a few people who wanted to sell something with people who wanted to buy.

If you search the internet by putting in something like "companies who buy secondhand mobility scooters" you will find a lot out there you probably won't get such a good price as a private sale but worth a try if you can't get a private sale.

Good luck with it.x

put on face book with pic or ebay they would want to see pic and some imfo about it

The pavement type in this country can only go up to 4 mph or 8 mph on the road. I know this because I have just been looking into and gotten a pavement use one!

You will be surprised at exactly how fast 4 mph actually is on the pavement. Before my electric wheelchair died a death, that used to go 4 mph and I never cranked it up to full speed whilst in a pedestrian area as it was just too fast with all the silly idiots that like to step out in front of you!

I doubt you would be able to use the 20 mph one here, I stand corrected if I am wrong but I do know that you need road tax and that means the DVLA knowing about it so the best people to speak to is them or the Police. You might even need some type of insurance as well.

I know I have just taken out Public liability insurance with the scooter that I have just bought mainly to cover my own back just in case some silly idiot cuts me up, can't afford to be sued!

Hope this helps...
