mobility scooter help

hello, I’ve recently bought a Jaint plus mobility scooter and it’s been great…apart from one thing. We are really struggling with removing the seat. Sometimes it comes off no trouble and today my husband has had to put it in the boot still attached. Any advice? Thank you

I just watched it on utube, but it wouldn’t let me send without subscribing, so go on utube.

🌸thank you so much Blue-52. We had tried that and it basically says lift the lever, wiggle it and bob’s your uncle..,doesn’t seem to be doing it. Wondered if we were missing something obvious.

does it need oil, I have a powered chair, that comes apart in 3 parts, and the blinking seat was forever getting stuck, so hubby oiled it, hey presto no problem, also go back to where you bought it, explain the problem and hopefully they should help.

Our hubbies must have similar thought patterns…mine has done just that and it seems to be sorted. Fingers crossed 😜

Can you take it to a local wheelchair shop. They may have their repair or mechanic people to help.

Hi Fifefit, unfortunately I find the seat of my mobility scooter difficult to pull out due to the tight fit, the weight, the heaviness. So my husband has to always lift and remove it. I keep meaning to put a little WD40 in the slot, I don’t know if it will work or not! Living with chronic pain makes it very difficult anyway to handle any physical stuff… 😭

I hope I’ve answered your queries ! Take care,

Warm regards,

Albionrfx

thank you for your reply. It is so challenging. I’d hoped the scooter would be the key to some independence (and in some ways it is) but, as you say, they are so heavy, there’s no way I could build it up, or get it out and in the car so still dependant on hubby for that.

As for the seat…hubby managed to get the seat off (luck rather than anything else) and a wee spay with his bike oil seems to be making it move a little more easily. 🌸

Ive never heard of that make, seats R A PAIN TO GET OFF. THERE SHOULD BE A LEVER UNDERNEATH lift that then wiggle seat ans you lift it.....no luck? tur seat around imagine its square, 4 sides face steering and try, no? move to next side so facing RIGHT, no? next side,, facing BACK, no? last try, next side facing RIGHT hopefully yes? but dont forget that wiggle lol

Think about getting a hoist fitted in your car. Best thing I ever did and can now go out on my own. A press of the button and it's out, very easy to use

if it’s not rude are the hoists very expensive Just that I have an electric wheelchair and apparently they don’t come apart or fold down they said I would have to use a ramp and I’m a bit scared riding up the ramp it would be my first time to do it
