I'm started taking pentagablin today 3 x300mg. Because tramadol doesn't do anything for me now. But looking at the side effects I'm not sure whether to take them. Just wondering if anyone out there taking pentagablin for fibro and does it help them. Thanks maco100

Pentagablin side effects
Hi, pregabalin helps with my nerve pain, I have been taking it for years. The first week I took it I had horrible side affects but they disappeared the second week, now I don't have any. It's a very high doses you are starting on. It might be better to start with a lower dose and build it up when your body gets used to it.
Hope it helps your pain
Thanks for reply I'll stick with them.
Hi Maco 100 I started on prebagablin 3 weeks ago I place of gabapentin which I was on 1200mg a day for 4 years . I'm on 300mg twice a day it's hard while they are try to settle into my system. I put on 6 lb in one week I was horrified. So I'm taking water tablets aswell for water retention it is working . I do eat healthy as I'm on slimming world . I'm on a lot of other meds too .
Thanks for replay I'm gonna stick with them see how I go
I've been in Pregablin but a much lower dose than you for over 6 years now and it is the one drug I wouldn't be without. It has more than halved the intense burning and shooting pains I was getting. I do have an intolerance to alot if medication so I was put on the lowest dose tablets possible which are 25mg and slowly worked my way to a higher dose. I was initially prescribed it three times a day but was finding the midday one was really knocking me for six so that one was dropped. The first few weeks I was like a zombie and just sat in a chair but realised that the pain was being helped so stuck with it. I think personally you are on a very high dose especially as you are new to it.
Side effects are strange as people react differently to drugs but you are more likely to have less side effects if you start low and slowly build up. By the way Tramadol did nothing for my pain just made me feel worse than I did before. Good luck with it.
Thanks for reply I'll stick with em.
I have been on Pregabalin for the past five years. It was prescribed for bilateral radiculopathy and sciatica after a scan of my neck and back showed that I had compressed nerves. When I first started taking it, I felt extremely drowsy, but it wore off after a few weeks as my body got used to it. After taking it for a few months I developed muscle tics all over my body and recurring headaches, both of which I still have. I have also now got GERD. Over the past five years I have gained a total of 7 kgs, despite dieting and being fairly active. Pregabalin has definitely helped with the pain.
Thanks for the reply. I've got gerd due to a hiatus hernia its the weight thing I don't to put on any more. I've put on 3 stone since having fibro due lack of exercise.
I was prescribed versatis patches which contains lidocaine but they can only be worn for 12 hours at a time. I had no side effects and they are very effective. (Word of warning remember to take it off BEFORE you take a shower as the medication on the patch turns to jelly & is a pain to get off!!)
Ha ha laughed about the patches I only forgot to take them off once before a shower it was rather like having a jelly fish attached to me just like glue I certainly have never forgotten since.x
Thanks for that. If these don't do anything for I will ask the doctor about them. Thanks maco100
I take 300mg a day of pregab but I find it works for me if I take it at night because it dose knocke off my feet so I take mine about 5 o'clock it takes a couple of hours to work
