Is it a lipoma? My black Labrador retriever zimba going into vets today to have his very large lipoma removed.......his biggest worry at present is WHERE'S MY BREAKFAST !!!

Yes it is x Breakfast is important for all dogs but for a lab it's like having their throat cut xx.

Thanks Sally Ann..pet insurance in UK very good.Zimba lost .6 of a kilo....bit unsettled last night but his op went well and as it was behind his front leg will make him feel better a smaller on one just near sternum.

Needless to say his belly not affected!!

Glad to hear it all went well. My Onslow is 12 next April so he is getting on. However he now seems to be doing very well. We didn't insure him but we are lucky that our daughter is a vet nurse at our vets so he does get star treatment.

He was very poorly about a month ago and after lots of tests,scans etc they found that he had a bad infection somewhere in his abdomen which had stripped his vit B12 supplies making him starving all the time. We hadn't noticed but he had been eating everything in the garden,peat,pooh the lot and his stomach and intestines were massively inflamed causing the sickness and loose bowels.

So now he has antibiotics twice daily, a vit B12 injection weekly,Ranitadine twice daily for stomach acid and hypoallergenic food. Plus a muzzle when he goes in the garden.!

We call it the muzzle of doom !! Haha. I always associate them with aggressive dogs but Onslow couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag.

I hope this is just a benign cyst and is not causing any pain or discomfort, it looks so uncomfortable.
