They change criteria every now and again so I'm afraid I can't help. Phone your local blood bank and ask them 🐸

I would not recommend a blood donation. I know we are all different but i was told that if any one had my blood then they would get ill. Bone marrow is different as more tests done.

I albo find that having blood tests causes me to be very unwell foe several days.

I hope you get a positive reply as giving blood is such a valuable contribution to society. I remember many years back asking my doctor about it and he said "who would want your blood". Well that was the end of that idea, Let us know how you get onx

If you answer the questions truthfully you'll get a sensible answer. They take no chances. I used to donate. The only thing that stopped me was having a transfusion myself. Once you've had one, they don't want your blood anymore. This came about with BSE. You can have a lot of illnesses and medication that don't affect donation. Might be best to phone them or speak to someone on the day. If you feel unwell or develop a sore throat within 2 weeks they need to know, don't want to give your blood to someone if you have an infection. They don't always give whole blood from it. There's plasma and other fractions.

if your on meds for fibro and me you cannot donate blood i was told this 20 years ago.also if you ever feel dizzy on standing feeling faint or orthastatic blood pressure problems a history of tachycardia then you cannot give blood. i certainl would not want a healthy person receiving my blood as their are theories out there that think we may still have infections.like the herpes virus that can hide away for periods of time before being reactivated.

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I do not know but I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with this if it is okay to do so.

All my hopes and dreams for you

I had an email you can't give blood if you have been diagnosed with cfs but if I become a match for bone marrow then I will be tested to see if I was able and well enough to xxx

Hello Seren1970,

You are correct you cannot give blood with ME/SEID or CFS, the debate with Fibro continues and as many can fit the criteria for both Fibro & CFS, ME & SEID it is a fine line !

Best Wishes

Emma :)

Think i remembrr reading blood not good idea from fibro sufferers, but organ donation may be useful, but donors must specify fibromyalgia as risk is involved.

Hello Seren1970,

I hope this post helps answer this question for you & other Fibro sufferers or maybe not as it is still debatable.

But personally I feel I would not give blood as the risks are unclear to the person receiving the transfusion. As for Organ donation I am still on the register but don't know what the guidance is for Fibro, if I find out I'll let you know

Best Wishes

Emma :)

I used to be a blood donor but when I was diagnosed with fibro I was told that they couldn't accept my donation any more.

I have Fibro, myofascial pain syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, hyper mobility syndrome and a few other pain syndromes including OA in various parts of my body and I gave blood a fortnight ago as they wanted A negative blood urgently. I've given it a couple of times since I've had Fibro and as long as I wasn't feeling too bad on the day I can give. Fibro is just an illness to me and it's not going to stop me from doing my part in helping out if I can help in any way. I try to be as proactive as possible!!
