Lidocaine Infusion

Finally got appointment for my 1st Lidocaine Infusion which I was put on the waiting list of as urgent and for any cancellations on June 22nd and my appointment is finally on September 21st. I am a little apprehensive and nervous about how it will go and the outcome.

My question is I am also scheduled for a root canal the next day which I have been waiting for since July, do you think I will be able to go to the dentist the next day?

Hi ,SJM 81 ,Iv not heard of that treatment Lidocaine, can you please tell me what it is for ,and what it does ,I hope you don't mind me asking ,Also if I was you ,I would phone the Hospital and ask the Doctor who's doing that treatment ,because its not worth risking problems you make a cure .Its best because you could have a reaction with the different drugs they would be using for the treatmens .

All the best.

Love an Huggs.

Hi lovelyredhead

Lidocaine is a type of local anaesthetic, and It is used to calm down nerve related pain. A cannula is placed in a vein on the back of the hand. A drip infusion with lidocaine is run for 30 minutes. During that time the patients blood pressure, heart rate and ECG are observed. I genuinely hope that this helps explain a little?

Hi sjm81

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I would (as lovelyredhead says) ring the hospital and ask if it is okay to do this? It is better to make sure I reckon?

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your Lidocaine Infusion.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Thank you Ken ,I'd never heard of that drug before .Iv looked it up ,I can't have it done ,as iv got heart condition .I can only have Tramadol now ,even the morphine iv got to keep off if possible v it affects my Mental health to much, I'm in so much pain with nerve damage to my Spine ,I can't have any ibrofen cause I'm Asthmatic., so I live in hope ,that they find a pain killer that I can have.

I hope you and your family are all well ,give your grandchildren a big Hugg from me ,

Love an Huggs.

JACQUI.

Thank you for your reply, its nice to get a point of view good or bad, if you don't mine me asking what the laposcopy for.

Have you tried a Ketamine infusion?

What Pain meds are you on?

hi i think the infusion i had was ketamine. the laposcopy is they thiink i have serve endometreosis and that might be causing my serve leg pains i was on zapain for 6yrs then it stopped working then i was put on dhc continus but not sure if that agreed with me as i was in bed most of last week with virus type symptoms and felt sick and couldnt eat so im back on zapain and using muscle rub but im in so much pain ive really had enough.

Hi sjm81,

I have had lidocaine infusions for several years and personally I could never have had root canal work the next day, I would advise you to ask your dentist to give you an appointment for another day. However, I think everyone responds differently so it may not effect you so strongly as it has me but since it is your first infusion I think it would be better to postpone the dental appointment.

I do hope the lidocaine infusion gives you some relief. It used to help me quite a lot, but sadly it doesn't any longer so my consultant is changing my treatment to ketamine infusions instead.

Wishing you all the best,

Mim
