Oh mate I hope things start looking up for you :-( how are things on the girlfriend front?

Do you have any medication that could help you relax?

Manu2015 profile image
Manu2015 in reply to Keeleybee

Hello keeeleybee not gd really and I take 5mg of olanzapine a day it's an anti-depression but it's also used for people with epilepsy and I've got a history of it and it's being used as both and two of my union reps and some of my mates are worried that im going to have another breakdown

I think you should go to the doctor's to get some diazepam or something along them lines? Just to calm you down whilst you are going through so much? Iv been in a place where thing's have been very bad and I no how it feels! Like your going to just explode.. Bless ya

Manu2015 in reply to Keeleybee

Yeah I know what u mean keeleybee I've been on diazepam before last time I was ill and I'm going to try and get in to see my doc on Mon to see what he can do to help me cos if I carry on like this without any help I will have a breakdown

Good glad your going to book in the doctor's. Hopefully a job swap you mentioned before Will happen and your partner will come to terms with your fibro and all will be ok :-)

Keep your head high and do try not to let it all crush you..... Maybe go have a drink with your buddies and take your mind of it all? Always helps me :-)

Can't you get disability pay , severence pay or unemployment ?

Manu2015 profile image
Manu2015 in reply to Redhots7

Maybe Redhots7 but I wouldn't get much my work want to medical retire me and I wouldn't get much for that

Redhots7 profile image
Redhots7 in reply to Manu2015

Check into it, seems like medical would pay more . Instead of stressing about unknown, get the facts then you can figure out what you can or need to do . Stress is not kind to a Fibro person .

Did you find the charts I was telling you about? Maybe your work could take a look at them also. Maybe find you something you could do that would be easier on you. Or even go part time. Hugs and if you need to repost chart I will just let me know.

Hello arymretep I'm going to stay in my job for nw my mate gave me some great advice he said I should look at being a care worker in mental health

Having worked in the NHS I fought for over 6 years, successfully to remain at work. The workplace have to look into any possible adaptions that are reasonable to make. With me it was shift pattern change, stopping night shifts and changes in what I actually did. As I have a damaged spine this meant virtually no manual handling or bending movements

I was also fortunate as in being given full medical entitlement to my NHS pension, which meant that I was also entitled to 2 thirds of up to 60 added to my pension allowance. This is as it was accepted that I would not be able to do work else where.

What I would say is arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can cope with ; as this then gives you more a sense of some control. For most of my first several years the union rep was mainly a silent partner and I made my own case.

Not good to hear Manu I too am facing redundancy at work 72 have got to go and would you believe they are using sickness in the matrix which includes me I was off for 3.5 months with hypertension my blood pressure was reaching 210/115 and I come under equality act as having a disability but my job says I was off with stress and that does not count as having a disability so they WILL be using my sickness against me do now I am very distressed making me flare😡

Hello laraH I'm going to get our of there before they cause me to have another breakdown I'm going to look at getting into mental health as a care worker

I was ill health dismissed in feb and my union rep tried to get my employer (local government) to redeploy me but they said they could not retrain me and they could find no way around it. I have no energy for a fight and could feel my depression coming back. It is taking time and it isnt easy but but I am slowly coming to terms with it and trying to find things I can do when I dont feel too fatigued and in pain. Gentle hugs Joolz.x

Joolz sorry to hear that I think that's going to happen to me unless I meet work halfway and I need to do something cod I can't have medical retiement cos I want to leave my job and go into mental health care worker

in reply to Manu2015

I was hoping to take a sideways step into social work but have to accept that isnt going to happen for me now. I wish you good luck in your hopes to go into mental health and keep fighting for what you want to do. xx

Manu2015 in reply to

Hello joolz I've got a few people that I've told at work telling me to be careful with my job well just shows royal mail don't want people there with any health or disability probs

in reply to Manu2015

Is it too soon for you to be starting the role you want to do or are you not well enough? I agree you have to be careful. Seems to me that even though there is disability discrimination employers try to get around it and if they find out you are ill long term they dont want you there even though you are still capable. Maybe something positive will come of it and we will both end up doing something we love. Good luck. Let me know how you get on. Gentle hugs Joolz.x
