As well as having been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I also have Diabetes type 2 and Neuropathy caused by the diabetes.

Whenever I go to my doctors for more pain releif they dont seem to be very interested in the fibro everything revolves around my diabetes.

I am already taking Gabapentin, Paracetamol, and morphine as pain releif and with tablets for depression, sleeping, reflux cholestoral, high pressure, chronic fatigue etc I already take 32 tablets each day so I dont want any more tablets.

My doctors, my wife believes, treat me as some sort of guinea pig because each time I go they say, "Shall we try this", I dont really care if it helps but some days pain is so bad in my arms and legs that I would gladly cut them off .

I am a 62 year old male and this started about ten years ago with carpul tunnel for which I had the operations but when I had the related nerve compression tests they did tell me that there was also some underlying neurological problem which I presume was the fibro it was also at this time that they detected the diabetes

Dont think that I am not grateful to my doctors for their help with the diabetes but I just wish that they would take more interest in the fibro.

Yep once diagnosed with neuropathy that seems to be all they care about. Fibromyalgia gets put on back burner. When that's what hurts the most!

I can commiserate as Fibro seems to be the ignored illness. Often as well if you ahve it they put every ache and pain down to it and don't investigate any further. It was only when I got a bit moe assertive at the docs and said i did not want to ahve any additonal meds as I felt I was rattling and what alternative treatment can I have that I was sent for an Xray before being referred to a physio and it was found I had osteo in both hips! I did get some physio exercises to do, hydro (which was the best but only 6 sessions) needle acupuncture which did not work and a good session with a occup. ther. who did do a one off injection in the one hip where it hurt the most and that did help I wish I could have them all over my body.

I would actually try to get into a dialogue with your doc as to what exactly they are prescribing and why as when I showed my new doctor that I ws being very proactive about my treatment and willing to come off drugs and try others but queried things about them that he seemed to treat me differnetly. Unfortunately, I will be moving out of his catchment area soon just when I ahd him trained

I have often said to my OH I wished i could chop off bits of my body so I am with you on that all the way.

Soft hugs as i know anything else would hurt too much.x
