leg, thigh pain when i get up in am
Hi
I wake up with tremendous leg and thigh pain every morning. Due to my back pain being so severe I can only sleep on my side. It's generally the side I've slept on that I wake up with the most pain in.
As you say, moving around during the day lessens it.
I was up at 4am today as my leg pain was so bad. The sad part is there isn't anything I can recommend to help with it. Just what you've already realised yourself, that movement helps.

i too awake like this i take nortriptyline some mornings i find it hard to even get down the stairs. after a shower it does start to ease but comes back on through out the day mainly because i work 8 hours a day on my feet most of the time walking around a hospital.
this morning i have awoken with all my joints aching but i have not been on my medication for two weeks has been on holiday and dont like taking it when drinking. so back on it i think tonight back to GP although all i get is its my bulging discs not sure how that makes all joints hurt.
hope you can find some relief somehow.
I can sympathise with you. I have this day in, day out and it never seems to get any better. It makes walking quite painful. As well as the muscle pain, I feel like my knees are going to fall apart so I keep them warm and supported with tubular bandages. In the evening while I'm watching TV I sit and roll a ball round on my thigh muscles and it seems to relax the muscles a bit but it often wakes me up during the night. If you find a cure p-l-e-e-z let me know
Yes I think a lot of us have the same problem. It is made worse when we have been in the same position all night. If you sleep on your side try putting a pillow between your knees as it helps keep the pressure off our joints and keeps the back more correctly aligned. If you sleep on your back try putting it under your knees.
Before I get out of bed I do gentle stretching exercise and massage my muscles and I find this really helps as does having a shower as hot as i can bear it. I also massage something like Musselflex into the muscles after the shower which seems to help with the pain and stiffness.
Do hope you find something that helps you.x
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering in this way and I would always suggest that with any new or persistent pain that it may be beneficial to discuss it with your doctor to rule out other medical conditions and keep your GP up to speed with what is happening for you.
All my hopes and dreams for you

besides fibromyalgia for many years have herniated discs. i bend over and grab back of my knees to stretch that helps. it seems to become worse with weather conditions, humidity, very cold, rainy as well. if this gets worse yes i will contact gp.
