You can get advice from your GP, we received lots of help through adult social services with aids and small adaptions around the home. I'm in the same situation, as are many others. Always find time for yourself and your needs and remember that nothing dreadful happens if all the housework isn't done. Lou xx

Thanks its great to know that there is someone else out there. What did social services do for you. I cannot even get in touch with the carers dept at the council as I am my husbands carer.

We were given grab rails, raised toilet seat, easy grip adaptors for cutlery, little things that helped a lot, if you need extra help someone can come to assess your needs, for us it was just a case of the small things that allow us tick over independently. xx

I do not think I will ever be that bad that I will need adapted cutlery but I do live in my mother in laws house as she is now in a nursing home so have stair lift and walk in shower with seat so not to bad mind you I will not use the stair lift yet it is not that bad that I cannot walk up and down stairs, I do not think I am as bad as a lot of people and hopefully it will go very soon as they have found out straight away.

If you do need help do ask for it we all have good and bad days. xx

A thought for you. Using the stair lift is not about you being that bad etc. It is a tool to help you. By using the lift, you would be saving the energy of stair climbing, to do something else more important and needed. Maybe even something nice and fun even. Don't see it as giving in, see it as a tool to save energy for better use. x

Unfortunately the stair lift has broken and I am not able to use it anymore so only go up stairs when I need to. Because I did not have it put in for my use Social Services have told us we will have to pay and it is very expensive.
