Tired and in pain.

After working my 30 hour week I'm in bed again as I can't keep my eyes open for long. Ice been getting bac spasms in the middle of the night as well. Last week ended up at ooh boot knowing where to put myself. Was given diazepam 5 mg which worked a treat. Saw my dr this week and have been so disappointed with her. She has increased my amitryptoline to 70mg and now wants to increase my zomorph from 30-50 mg. I'm trying to come off them! I'd used my oramorph to help with the spasms, but she has decreased that from a 500ml bottle to a 100 ml. She was so horrible about it all. I've not increased my zomorph like she said. Surely there had to be an alternative!!!

How do you manage a 30 hour week? Doesn't your GP ever gently advise that that may be more than your body can realistically cope with rather than just prescribing tablets? It was only when I started to ask myself if my existing activity level was truly sustainable ongoing that I started to make much needed lifestyle changes. Quality of life matters. Take care.

Thanks stumpedok and fibro 10. No advice this week just total criticism. She was horrible to the point that I have now decided to change my gp. To have a go talk to me like that and reduce me to tears rather than trying to help me, made my mind up. Have considered reducing my hours. Just need to work out if it's financially ok. Xx

You may be able to claim personal independance payment, PIP.these are paid out to help people with health problems pay for the extra costs that we have to deal with and do not take into account any other money they you have coming in, Sorry i dont know the link to the fiboaction benefits advice but someone else will tell you .

Always worth shopping around for a supportive GP. An unhelpful GP will only add to your stress levels and stress aggravates Fibro. You are worth more than that. In terms of work and reducing your hours sometimes i find it helpful to ask myself what's going to happen if i Don't do something as well as if i do. Fibro dictates we all make changes to our lives - just how great those changes need to be to maximise our quality of life is highly individual. Good luck making changes which improve things for you.

I admire you for still working with this life changing disease. I was working 30 hours a week and then had to cut down to 22 and still found it too hard so in Feb this year had to bite the bullet and admit that I could no longer do my job. I miss it terribly especially the people I worked with and the friends I made are gradually drifting away. I am grateful for this site as it helps to know I am not alone with this. Gentle hugs Joolz.x

Me too Joolz,

I loved my job but now I'm reduced to waiting for an Ill-health pension to come through. Work mates seem too embarrassed to contact me, I lack the courage or energy to contact them. This condition takes so much away from us doesn't it.

I can't have my old life back, I'll just have to make the best of a different life.

.............It would be much harder without the wonderful people on this site though - thanks all!! xx
