Hi Helz0906

Sorry to hear your meds not effective for you. I'm trying to get my doc to change my duloxetine (which helps mood but not my pain) to something stronger for pain. Take tramadol now and again but don,'t want to rely on it. I'm not sure if accupunture would help as fibro seems such a complex beast. However anything is worth trying and we all react differently to things. My friend has problems with her legs(not fibro) and her surgery provides accupunture service. She finds it helpful. If it could benefit you then go for it unless your doc advises against it. Keep your doc informed of your evening leg pain and wish you all the best.

Hi there,

I can't speak from personal experience on this as I'm not allowed to have it because of a blood disorder, but I have read of a fair few people with fibro who have found acupuncture helpful, so it could be worth a go....... Good luck 😀

Hi there

I have had it for Fibro! If your doc says ok he can refer you to physio and they will do it. Problem is ... With hospital a course lasts 8 weeks and then you move back onto the list to wait for next lot of sessions.

I thought it was great but you need to keep up as its a therapy for pain and not a cure!

I found a local place that does acupuncture and use them! It's worth it especially when you have no relieve and your having a flare up!

Ask your doctor , it could be a help to you.

I must admit that it made me feel worse when I tried it. However, please remember that we all react and respond differently to treatments.

All my hopes and dreams for you

My mom swears by it,but I am so hypersensitive that it did more harm than good. Everyone who has this disease knows to each their own. I'm a "I'll try anything that may help" type. I wish you the best in finding what works for you and gives you some relief!

I have tried it, but as we are far more sensitive to pain, the needles hurt me sooo much that I had to give up on it. One could opt for acupressure which works on the same chi flow meridian points but doesn't use needles. One would need to do the treatment for a very long time and then it is very beneficial for the pain.

I've had it only thing it did for me was make me sleep.... All day. Very relaxing but no pain effect.

I had a few sessions of acupuncture given by one of the GPs at my health centre. I found I was pain free for 3-4 days and then the pain came back, and I felt it was worse than previously although it wasn't. I stopped after a few weeks because I felt it was less painful in the long run though, as has already been said, we all react differently to things so I would say, give it a go and see how you get on. I first had acupuncture for compressed disc in my back 9 years ago and physio could not believe how "drunk" I was afterwards, I slept for 8 hours and was pain free for a week each time. Had acupuncture 2 years ago for what they thought was a stiff neck but was fibro and it really hurt at the time and afterwards and did not seem to help at all, Recently had more acupuncture on my foot and I was ok, it worked well but have not been so "drunk" this time although I go home with a huge grin on my face.

If dr says it's ok don't think you have anything to loose and it's not a prescription for more tablets.😀
