Hi Fibro Friends. I have been experiencing nerve pain recently. It feels like a pins and needles all over my body. I especially notice the nerve pain when I lay down to rest. It is painful and annoying. Do you have nerve pain? If so, what do you do to help yourself feel better?

Allodynia or small fibre neuropathy are areas that might have some suggestions for relief from symptoms. Hoping you find something that works for you :-)

I hqave similqr neuropathic pain problems.I am on amytriptiline and pregabalin and they control it. I have been on the drugs for 7 years with no significant side effects and successful pain relief. Ask your GP to refer you to a pain clinic. Good luck and be persistent

Hmmmm Noodles99.

Not to sound like a doomsdayer but may I suggest you check this out with your GP.

In my humble experience, symptoms like this could be related to issues with nerve endings in your spine as opposed to Fibro. I also have Diabetes2 so technically it could have been related to that but for some unknown reason, I just knew in my gut that it was something else and I was proved right.

Push for for tests. Don't take it lying down (sorry for the pun). Describe in detail exactly how it feels when you lie down - don't forget that depending on how we lie down, the spine can be put into different positions and pressing on specific points can in fact trigger these reactions from your nerve endings.

Wishing you all the very best. Don't get fobbed you're entitled to know what is actually causing it so you can at least address and manage it as best you can.

yes!! Sometimes it feels as if my entire body is alive with these sensations, other times just in my legs and feet or/and arms and hands. Had a nerve test and a small fiber nerve biopsy and was told everything is fine. Now in 2006 I had Guillain-Barre syndrome which strips the protective insulating cover off of the nerves (to make a long story short). Apparently the nerves have 'healed' from that but the fibro still insists on making life miserable with the painful 'neuropathy' type sensations. I have read this is something a lot of people with fibro experience. If you don't or haven't tried Lyrica, I have heard some people have found relief with that. Cymbalta is another. Savella is another. Or neurontin. Being med sensitive, I can't take any of those and have to deal with the different levels of this nerve pain and pins and needles daily. Sometimes using a minty or hot type cream rub (using too much Ben Gay or that type of pain relief can be dangerous but there are other options) helps at least mask the sensations and pain. Other times soaking in a warm bath with Epsom salts is ideal. Not sure if you have it where you are, but in the US we have an Epsom Salt lotion. Haven't tried it yet but if you have a chance, and are able to use such products, give it a try and see if it helps. Fibro sucks! *hugs*

If this is something new for you I think you should have it checked out by your GP just to be on the safe side. I have experienced neuropathic pain for the last 5 years but must say the Pregablin tablets i am on have helped the worse of it. Hope you can find something that will dampen down the symptoms for you.

Hi Noodles, I hate to say but nothing seems to work, plus I am waiting to see the Rheumatologist in September for a 100% diagnosed of Fibro, but my pins and needles are bad during the day and even worse when I go to bed. Sorry for not having any answers! But I wish you all the best.
