I have had to renew my DLA and claim PIP. I had a message today saying they have received it and I should hear from them within 16 weeks. Then a letter comes saying My claim has been sent to Atos.
I thought they had lost the contract.
Should I worry??
if in doubt, don't worry - whatever it is, it hasn't happened yet. 
If you wan to be forewarned go and see a good CAB advisor - they should know the local situation and they can advise about steps...!

They gave up the contract for ESA but believe it or not they were given the contract for PIP for most of the country!

Hi' I'm claiming DLA after having a brain aneurysm and being left with epilepsy. Just been diagnosed with Fibro and RA. Got a letter this morning to say my benefit will be changing to PIP. What happens next ?. Will I be called in for a medical. Thanks all.

I've had my assesments recently for both pip and esa with atos, one went
really well the other didn't , the lady I seen last week for my pip was
absolutely brilliant, she was very understanding and even picked up
on things I didnt know I was doing, but I wouldn't worry about what you've
heard it will only make your symptoms worse , stay calm and good luck

Hi there - no don't worry. Yes ATOS have lost the contract for PIP administration etc. However, they have been told by the DWP that they have to clear up the mess they have made of it so far before departing! Of course, this does not explain why you have been sent a letter from ATOS when its just supposed to be the backlog they are having to clear up. I too, have just applied for PIP [March] and I too received the same letter as you have and queried it with the above response. They ARE doing the new applications such as yours and mine however because I have just been for an assessment which would better be described as an interrogation [for 2 hours!]. The whole assessment centre was run by ATOS employees in livery as such. Apparently, they are saying that they have employed qualified assessors now - this is not so. They are employing failures in professional exams and so on and bits of kids just our of university or whatever - this is not a qualification to examine sick people for benefits! So yes, be very aware and plan your possible assessment very carefully in your mind by looking at their descriptors for marking and so on ... all of it is available at .gov.uk online. They are also being very awkward and obstructive...I am not able to walk for one thing and have lots of care needs but they still sent me an appointment over the Easter period [when no professionals are available] for 9.00 AM in Blackburn when I live many miles from there [and there is an assessment centre just down the road from where I live]. They also sent a form to one of my professionals asking if I would be able to attend an assessment by public transport or taxi! Be very aware - this is not a fair assessment necessarily [although some people do just sail through it easily] and it is full of pitfalls and booby traps!
