Lyrica
Hi I am taking lyrica/ pregabalin 100 twice a day and I find that I am very drowsy and forgetful in mornings..don't really think they do much for my rls tbh
Hi my partner takes them for prolapsed disc, 500 a day 200 morn and 300 night , started on 75s and used to knock him out and a bit forgetfull but now 500 a day no probs , got hungry after taking them , put some weight on, nothing major . think you just get used to these tablets the longer you take them, they work better over 12 hours , and if he forgets a tablet evening or forgets if he's had one so can't take another !! ( Ha ha kind of explains the effect) he's in pain the next day .
Hi IcklePrincess92
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I will be starting to take Pregabalin (Lyrica) on Wednesday as a result of a recommendation from my Neurologist to my GP. We spoke about all of the main side effects especially weight gain. It does have many other side effects including unsteadiness.
If you are experiencing any side effects with this drug it may be best to inform your GP or Medical Specialist as there are alternative medications that you ca be given.
All my hopes and dreams for you

I am currently weaning myself off it. I have gained nearly two stone in weight since being on it ( nearly three years) and it made me very groggy. I honestly don't think it helped much with the pain apart from restless legs.
Everyone is different and it might suit you so it's worth a try but it does come with some nasty side effects.
I am on 300mgs twice daily. Dry mouth is the only side effect that I suffer with. But the benefit of the medication FAR outweighs the side effect for me.
Take it two times a day and have been on it now for about 4 years. Initially it made me very out of it and lethargic but the body got used to it in about a month and now it just leaves me a bit tired if I up the dose. One thing I did find was that my body did not like the tablet if I took it in the day so my doctor then prescribed it morning and night. I have had a bit of weight gain perhaps half a stone but I was very active before I was ill swimming and walking and doing heavy gardening so I put less activety down for the weight gain. I thought it wasn;t doing much for my neuropathic pain until I stopped it for a few days and then the burning, knifing pain came back with a vengence. Good luck with it.x
I've been on 400mgs a day of pregabalin for a while now and and feeling a lot better since I've been on them. I'm doing more, feel more energetic, losing weight and in a lot less pain.
Good luck ickleprincess92, it can be worth putting up with the side effects for a while until you get used to it if it helps the pain.

Thank you guys for the reply's this really helped.
Hi Ickleprincess I think it varies from person to person, I'm now on 75mg 3 times a day. It does have an effect on the pain as it supresses the Nerves. I was on the lower dose level and had to be raised to the 75mg. When I first started it caused me to start falling asleep which was at first very hard to deal with as I work full time still don't know how long I will last if I got or get worse. My body has adjusted slightly now to the medication and has corrected this to a certain degree. Try to let your body come to terms with the medication as with all medication it takes time to get used to!! If I can help with anymore question please get in touch...big hugs Daftney XXx
