Hi, I have had my meds changed from Gabapentin to Lyrica, has anyone else had this and what effects do they have. Also how did you get to see a nurologist, I just get to see pain management but all they offer is courses on how to cope with the pain.

I was taken off Gabapentin yesterday after nearly 3 weeks of taking it. But not put on anything else yet. I was so ill that I could barely walk and the burning pains in stomach were terrible. Did you have to stop the Gabapentin for the same reason? I'm still feeling ill today but hoping it will soon ease off. Please let me know how you get on with the Lyrica. I've been told I can try something different in about two weeks.

Hi, I'm just into my 2nd week of taking pregabalin (lyrica) and so far the main side effect has been dizziness and daytime sleepiness.

I have had a couple of 'funny do's' aswell (see my blogs) but otherwise I've been okay. Hope you get on as well :)

Please give any new medications time to kick in and for you to acclimatise to them, sometimes this can take a while. If you have any concerns about this or side effects, please speak with your GP. Please do not stop taking any medication without prior consultation with your GP.

Please also remember that side effects can vary from person to person as meds affect us all differently, so if a med affects one member badly it doesn't mean it will be unsuitable for you.

To see a Rheumatologist or a Neurologist, you would need to ask your GP for a referral first.

Here is some info on Pregabalin, also known as Lyrica, I hope this is helpful to you -

thanks for all the comments. I was taken off Gabapentin due to horrible headaches. the Lyrical just seems to make me a bit sleepy at the moment.

Hi JC, I was on Gabapentin for a few months but it didn't help a great deal and also made me feel very sleepy during the day. The pain clinic doctor that I see changed me to Lyrica (pregabalin) which has improved things for me. It is a medication that is commonly prescribed for FMS. I hope that you manage to find something that suits you very soon but your GP is right you do need to clear the Gabapentin out of your system for a few weeks before beginning the new treatment. All best wishes. Jane x

I tried Lyrica but was taken off it after just a few days because it made me suicidal :(

Like Ozzygirl, I'm not on any fibro meds at all. I only take levothyroxine.
