Hi Davidshelby

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve. I do not suffer with anything of this nature, but I want to wish you all the best of luck.

I could offer a few suggestions such as bathing your legs frequently and not using anything perfumed in the area of your legs, or only wearing cotton clothing on your legs. However, I can imagine that you have already been through this already?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I've suffered from this too and wish I could recommend something that would work, but unfortunately never found anything that did! I found that heat seemed to set it off - I scratched like mad in the bath and on hot days, so if you're the same try anything that doesn't allow your legs to get hot, eg wearing tights?

Here are a few things that you could try. Keep your legs well shaven. anything rubbing against the hairs can set my legs off. DONT scratch, rub gently scratching damages the skin and makes it worse. Use lots or moisturiser.

To soothe the itch once it has started. shower or bathe your legs with hot water and then the nasty bit, change to cold water for as long as you can stand it.

Germaline and saliver works well , Dont ask how i found this out. Desperation i think.

In an emergency try roll on deoderant or aftershave. These also work on insect bites.

Hope some thing works .

Hugs sue xx

Hey David,

I've had this myself so badly, I scratched and scratched - it's no good people telling you not to scratch - mine was insatiable! Firstly try bathing with bicarbonate of soda (google it, you will be amazed at its medicinal properties). Secondly, do moisturise as sometimes dry skin can be very itchy. If this carries on, get a full liver profile blood test - even very mild liver disease can cause dreadful itching (this was the culprit for me). I'd gone to expensive private dermatologists who took biopsies but never once recommended this. My saviour was taking a powder called cholestyramine - the itching stopped and my leg healed. Goodluck

Just a thought... There is a preservative called Methylisothiazolinone (MI / MIT) & Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI / CMIT) in lots of toiletries and when my mother eliminated it from her toiletries the skin irritation stopped, also I have less itching problems since I stopped it. Just read the list on the bottle. Most contain it, so you have to hunt to find those without it, but there are some. Love x
