I think anything that detrimentally adds to the fibro mix should be addressed( I smoke by the way) my Doctor has spoken with me about quitting and I will do it soon. I haven't heard about it being bad for Fibro in particular, it's just bad generally. Lou x

IDK the answer to that either, but if you have any bowel problems like IBS (the catch all phrase when it's not sure what's wrong) along with your fibro, it could be making that worse I imagine.

I do know that it depletes the calcium in the body and that is bad for anyone, especially women who have a smaller bone mass. So if you have joint or other bone related problems that's not good. Like Lou said, it isn't good for anyone.

I quit 2 and a half months ago (for the 4th time, twice for ten years) but it's hard and I started bumming cigs last week, so I'm afraid of relapse and buying a pack again. I like the extra money from not smoking, and I can stop using an inhaler.

Maybe some others on the forum will have more specific info for you.

hi i have fibro and i am a smoker. when i am stressed due to pain i smoke more. which increases the pain in my stomach and the bottom part of my legs. tried giving up countless times

Grrr sore subject. After years of trying i finally quit, I cut out salt and lost a stone in weight.

My BP went up. got that back under control and my fibro, that had been grumbling away for years kicked off big time.

I still lay off on the salt, my BP is behaving and i have put the weight back and some. I am pleased to say that i am still a non smoker.

But thinking about all the effort i went to to keep fit it seems to be such a waste of time.

Walk for miles like i used to? Can i s##t i struggle to walk from living room to kitchen, and use my power chair when i am out. But there are limits as to were the chair can go, so long country walks and cliff paths are out.

Sorry for the rant, just feeling a bit fed up at the moment.

Oh and im still glad that i quit.

Morning, all symptoms are rotten to today. I take a relaxent marajuana which I need to go with my morphine to be able to function normally. Of course smoking and all else is bad. But when you get ill and somethings normal dont work you have to look outside the box. I only keep vitamin d in me by going to sunbeds. My body doesn't move nor can I talk when pain comes from head to toe. Life! I only agree with marajuana smoking for health and will fight for those who believe that. I say doctors a just humans like us , and only know what you tell them or they c you for 10 mins. There is 24 shit hard hours a day to go through. I have 2 good then 3 bad days. My hubby is my best friend and carer and everything. My 2 little dogs keep me going . Use a scooter to take them out. Hard life , but there is always someone worse off.

Hello life of pain

I just wanted to say I completely agree with you it sends me so mad like today I rang the dr as I'm in so much pain my slow release morphine is not helping enough and I'm taking my breakthrough morphine every 2 hours and Diazapam as well as it does increase it's effect . The dr first moaned that I was still on Diazapam then he said I was on MASSIVE DOSES and no I could nt increase the slow release . I only came out of hospital on Friday and was very ill with acute pancreatitis I don't drink and the dr knows this and said you need to stop drinking eventually after telling me how busy he was and how there were patients that needed him he agreed to increase the slow release morphine for a week . I know he will leave work have a lovely meal and bottle or two of wine with his wife while I'm awake all night in pain again . Aaaaaarrrrgggggghhhhhh

I can understand why you use medicinal marajuana . Best wishes squeak xx

What is ur slow release morphine called ? Breakthrough morphine?

I also take meloxicam. Marajuana calms after morphine takes out pain. Today bad weather raining, I am still in bed just yucky next pills 3pm. When I feel hot I put thin nighdress on and then 10mins later can be cold and pain in my face so I put a wooly hat on. Many things not written in doctor book. Xx

My slow release is OxyContin ( oxycodone hydrochloride prolonged release) I have 80mg 12 hourly and break through which I can take 2-4 hourly which I would n't need 2 hourly if I was on the correct dose of OxyContin anyway sorry the fast acting is Oxynorm

( oxycodone hydrochloride immediate release ). I take 4 mg Diazapam only 3 times a day with morphine when pains at its worst I was taking a lot more Diazapam but I have managed to reduce it but the GP has said despite it helping I will be coming off it once my pancreatitis has settled they don't seem to care that I have other illnesses that flare up and the diazepam helps . Stupid question but can you get Marajuana prescribed ? Have you ever had diazepam prescribed to help relieve pain ? Love squeak xx

Hi Lifeofpain

I totally agree with you on smoking marajuana for the pain I do so myself and it helps sometimes. I also suffer with earache and terrible back pain etc and my gp says i cant increase my lidocaine 5% pain patch as i am on a lot of other medication of varys doses "Keep on smoking, but in moderation i say" Don't let the B get us down!!! We're already suffering. (((Gentle hugs))) :-)

To all I wish there was a marajuana pill which I could take with Morphine. They are opiods from same family so it works. Any pills that act on the brain I can't take. I was prescribed medical sativex here I did not take it out as I was told it has a few ingredients missing. I like to visit gp in Holland to prescribe whilst I go to Holland.
