Hi i posted a few months ago about how my pain isnt managed and i was unable to return to my job. Ive had a few meetings now with my employer and union rep and i have asked to be considered for ill health retirement. My gp supports me but i have received a letter from occ health asking for my gp notes and also my consultants details. I have been under my gp care and pain mngt clinic at hosp but dont see any 1 consultant as such.I have seen an surgeon a few times as i also have severe degenerate discs but havent seen him since jan 13. I was diagnosed with fibro aug 13 by pain clinic. Does anyone know who i should pur down on the form for occ health to contact. I havent seen my surgeon since ive bn diagnosed with the fibro. Gentle hugs. Thankyou

Personally I would put all of them with a short explanatory note on where they fit in as far as your health is concerned and and the dates you have seen them. I have found specialists notoriously poor at replying to requests for information so it could perhaps be good to contact the department and draw their attention to the fact that they are going to be contacted and the reason why. Good luck with it all. I have been there and worn the T shirt so know what you are going throughx

Like Rosewine said if the box is not big enough attached a letter. I would suggest both pain clinic and surgeon but they both will probably need gentle reminders to answer any queries. As a doctor said to me she would rather be seeing people than dealing with paperwork which was very low on her list of priorities.

Hi Rosewine and Betty67,thanks so much for replying. I will take your advice and put both the surgeon and the pain clinic. Im sure my pension states that not only a gp but a consultant has to say the person is unfit to work before the age of normal retirement, so if my consultant dosent do a report then do i just get ill health dismissal i think. Its a stress we could all do without worrying about money. Do you know if i apply for esa before my sick pay finishes or when it finishes? Thanks so much xx

mags1970, your doctors will answer, eventuly and the occ peeps will have to do the chasing up.

As you are being medically retired, do you have a pension scheme you have been paying into?, if you have then they might want to see you for their own medical assessment, and if you are getting sick pay, then maybe going onto an pension type payment then when you register for other payments, then what ever you are awarded, esa, then it will be adjusted by what you are being paid, by company or pension. Any dla, is not affected, and if you apply for council tax benefit that is also based on if you live alone, and how big your home is, the union people will help you with all these things.

But first get the union support worker, to be with you and get the right information befire making any decisions, and filling in forms by the mile.

Keep posting and we will be here for you, ttfn

Your GP would be the first stop he would have all

The information, which clinic you have been to and

Who you should contact.

Who ever you have seen your doctor would know as

It would be put on his computer by who ever you have

Been to as nowadays they mostly have the same computer

System.

Hi mags1970

I sincerely hope that you are feeling well today? As the others have already said, put them all down! The more the merrier. The more information that you can present the more chance that you have of obtaining your ill health retirement.

I want to wish you all the best of luck with this.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hello mags1970, sorry to hear theat the retitrement is going to happen, but your health is so important.

Well they asked for all the contacts, well tell them all the details, don't skimp on anything as they will use all the information to assess your retirement details. If occ health asks, occ health gets, all of it, and from this they Might understand how sick and in pain you have been in and for how long. Keep you union health person in the loop, so that they can look after your interests and ensure that you are fairly treated, through the process of assessing things.

Sorry to hear that this has arrived, but now when you are relaxed you could find something that interests you and have a new hobby in your life. Keep posting, ttfn
