I've had about 10 sets of trigger point injections over the last 17yrs they have use lidocaine, and steriods but they just make me extremely sore at the injections site but they did nothing to help with the fibro pain. So try them it either well help or it won't. Good Luck hope they work xxx

Hi I have had trigger point injections - actually steriods are contraindicated with myofascial pain but the doctor at the pain clinic used steriods, which is depressing when I know more than the doctor. You can have dry needling into the trigger point or local anaesthetic. They do work - especially the one I had into my forehead once was amazing for headache - but I prefer to do trigger point massage which I can do for myself using Clare Davies book Trigger Point Massage Workbook. The other thing is to go for a deep tissue massage. I just had a really good experience with a physio who does trigger point massage, I had horrible pain in my shoulder and she found huge trigger points which I had missed in my pecs at the front and one in the infraspinus about 4 inches under my armpit. She did some massage herself and gave me some exercises to do and the pain really has gone. The good thing about learning how to do trigger point massage on yourself is that you don't have to wait for a therapist/doctor. Hope this helps.

Hi Jjudith I think you are really lucky to have such a great massage therapist, bassically she used technic what I also usually used long time ago (when I used to be healthy and stronger) to manipulated and obstructed the certain point, by doing that, it is sending a message to CNS (Central Nervous Systems) to release an endorphin that is why you don't feel pain no more.., its a very clever method..,the same paradox with TENS machine..., but check with your GP whether that will suit other person, as every one different what good for someone might not suit other,
