I seem to itch everywhere and often feel as if somethings crawling even though nothing's there. Does anyone else have this?

Hi Mum47, Yes, I have this all the time. I'll feel a tickle and straight away look for a creature crawling on me and there's nothing there. I also have extremely itchy inner ears. They drive me crazy !!!

Yes, I get this too. Especially when I've just gotten comfy or going to sleep - then it's a HUGE distraction!

Oh yes, and how! My GP suggested using Aqueous cream ( very cheap ) as a cleanser. I rub it all over my body then shower it off. Then I reapply and rub it well in after I am dry. It hasn't completely stopped the itching but it has reduced it enormously so now it's only between my shoulder blades it itches and even that is reduced.

I too could win a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games for Itchy Bod. Living alone I had to acquire all sorts of devices to help me scratch, especially on my back between my shoulder blades. I take antihistamine all the time and nothing yet has really been addressed with this, all the other rubbish going on takes more than enough time with my lovely GP who is sooo understanding.

Sending lots of anti itch vibes your way :-)

Hi mum47

I am so sorry to read that you are experiencing excess itching and I have read loads of posts on the forum as many other member have complained about it also. I do not know if it is Fibro related or medication related? It may help to discuss this with your GP?

I want to wish you all the best of luck with finding the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi mum47 :)

Sorry you're having trouble with itchiness it can be really frustrating can't it?

I was wondering if you had mentioned the itching to your GP as there are a number of things that could be causing it from hyper-sensitive skin to soaps and detergents to a reaction to one of your medications. I can't say what is causing it as I'm not a medical professional but I can tell you a little bit about my experience with it :)

My skin drives me nuts............. completely batty and sometimes the itch is that type that just won't go away and then it becomes quite painful. I am hyper-sensitive to most things especially touch and pressure of cloth against the skin etc, I also get pressure sores as a result :(

My Dermatologist has me using Hydromol wash which doesn't lather but I use the same way as Jilly and for the same reason and then I apply an emollient onto damp skin. My sensitivities have heightened and now cannot use any perfumed bathing products not even Radox :( I have to be careful with wash powders/liquids too :o They can set off my eczema flares which are a nightmare and why I am only allowed to use what I am prescribed by my Dermatologist :o

Well there's my snippet of experience for you, please remember that what itchy problem I have and what treatment I receive may not be the same as yours :)

You are not alone in this world of itchiness which drives us all batty! :D

In my opinion Fibromites do tend to have hyper-sensitivites so it may be worthwhile having a chat with your GP :)

Hope you find something to ease it soon and please let us know how you get on if you do decide to have that chat :)

Sending fluffies and sunshiny smiles with back-scratchers for you to help get that itch :)

:) xxxsianxxx :)

Yes I do have the same thing I have to take a decongestant for it at times it helps alot

Hi my skin drives me nuts too. My GP suggest aqueous cream for using in the shower, she gave me Diprobase to use as a moisturiser after showing and Eucerin cream for the skin when it itches... I have come to detest the feeling of cream on my skin although it does help.

Yes sweetheart, it's probably our nerves backfiring. For me it happens more so in the warmer weather. It feels as though I've been bitten or stung. Hope this helps. xxx Mitzi

Hi Mum47, I can sympathise with you, amongst other things I have stage 4 CKD, along with that came the itching I wake some mornings and the bed is full of blood marks where I have scratched until it bleeds. My doc prescribed creams to put on, and I can honestly say they do help. of course it comes back again, but she did prescribe a very large pot of cream. My advice, check with your doc, other than that Oilatum, is expensive, but really works you can also get it on script. Hope this info will help you D x

Hi mum 47

I did too. Is fibro your only illness. I had it so badly and I found spraying magicool helped a lot. Mine went when I started methotrexate.

Years ago, The doctor said it was my hair tickling my ears. Idiot !!! I didn't have anything else up with me at the time.

My Rheumy said it's just very dry skin and to moisturise constantly. I think it's excema that is itching in my ears. I put a bit of hydro cortisone cream on a cotton bud and wipe it gently around the inside. x

Try gelatine. Great Lakes the green one from amazon. Take 4-6tbs mixed in anything during day. Disolves easily in warm and cold. Got rid of all my itching problems! Worth a try. Doesn't take long to have an effect, within a week.
