What are the symptoms of the itch. Ie the type of itch you have....?

Go to your GP and tell them your symptoms. I have the same thing and they prescribe me with bath oil. I can't remember what it's called ATM without going back upstairs and I'm in agony so will send you the name later Hun it's a clear oil and you put 2-3 cap fills in your bath and it is great for my itching but you need to go back to your GP as it's safer to get from them as I'm not qualified to tell you what to use . Hope you get some relief soon. Take care x

Hi. I used to be like that but my gp put me on fexafenadine (think spelling is right) I take one a day and now itch free.

Do you have Fibro too? I'd love to find something to put me out of my literally insane life. I could jump out of the window some days.

I like yourself, suffer from kidney problems amongst a multitude of other complaints. I use E45 itch relief. It takes a wee while to kick in, but you can use it until you see your GP. I hope you get the care that you need as not many Drs realise how much it can drag you down, I really hope you find something that helps. Izzy x

Of course you must go to your GP. I don't think anyone here can diagnosis the cause of a rash we can't see. Itching is awful and skin can become infected with the scratching so make an appointment soon.

Have you started to take any new meds?

That happens to me occasionally.

I have fybromyalgia and I get. Very itchy.

Try a nice soothing shower.

Hi there

I'm so sorry you are suffering so badly. I don't want to suggest anything for you to take due to the fact that you have kidney disease.

Have you seen your GP? If not, I really would urge you to get an emergency appointment. You cannot carry on like that.

I do hope that you can get some resolution soon.

Wishing you wellness and peace

Lu xx

Hi you need to go and see your GP your Kidney Function may have dropped, which causes a build up of toxins as you probably know and this causes the itching. My Husbamd had this when he had double CKD-failure. I wish you luck.😬

I think you should see your GP but have you tried taking an antihistamine pill to help with the itching in the mean time. I hope you get in to see your doctor soon xx

Is it more like nerve pain? I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia and being checked (again) for diabetes as I have all the symptoms and results by GP trying to fob me off. I have kidney infections all the time and have to go to go hospital too.

I worry about having baths as have to have so much oil in it then cream on top. However, I don't think it is an external thing but internal. I've had the cream from hospital dermatologist and the Aveno cream and oil and take prebabalin also.

Is it like stinging nettles on the skin and in different places. Mine is almost 24/7 and differs in intensity, it is a horrible like like this. I can stay awake all night due to this and can't scratch it as it makes it worse!

Hope you find some relief, if so, let me know.

I think the intense itching may be a symptom of your kidney disease, but you do need to check with your doctor. The bath oil I use is called Balneum Plus, and is specifically for dry and itching skin. Your doctor should be able to prescribe it for you. Best wishes MariLiz

my grandson is a renal patient and often gets this itch you speak of, his consultant told him it is relevant to the phosphate levels in the blood that and magnesium I think it was check this out with the renal unit I think you will find it is to do with that good luck

I don't know if this is any good or you have had it tested at all.

My mum was like you all the itching. She was found to have to many RED blood cells,it's called polytheism, she use to have a pint of blood taken every month and from then on all the itching stopped.

Hope this helps.

The cause of the itching needs to be addressed, in the first instance. No one should be putting up with it - it is not normal it indicates something is wrong. I agree see your GP and demand it is properly investigated. I had dreadful itching with undiagnosed hypothyroidism. It was like millions of needles stabbing randomly not dissimilar to shingles which I had a few years previously. It was especially bad on my shins but could affect me anywhere. It is much improved with thyroxine therapy (NDT). I use Cetraben (very good if you have allergies to creams etc) for cleaning my skin and any occasional itching. I squirt a bit into the bath so it goes all over. I hope you get some much needed relief from this terrible scourge.

Just got my partner some aqueous and calamine cream the calamine should stop the itching another option is to take an antihistamine which he was already doing good as I had given them to him he finds they help a lot when itching is bad. I get itching every time I have a bath now I have tried all sorts of different bath foams or shower stuff but I always itch think it's the water! I am allergic to all deodorants except for soft and gentle which I find a pain as there are much better deodorants out there for those of us that perspire more than others but they all bring me out in a rash and I scratch do bad I bleed so I stick to ones I know. Is this itching another symptom of fybromyalgia are we thinking I've had fibro for years but the itching is probably last couple of years roughly.

Wow haven't heard of that one Newquay that's interesting.

Hope all are in not too much pain and are keeping warm

I'm see you have tried an oats wash but have you tried laying in a bath of warm water and filling it with oats?

My itching comes from Ezcema so it may be different to your symptoms but Coconut oil is another fav of mine, slowly massaging this into skin should offer some relief

The beauty of coconut oil is you can use it for cooking as well its a very healthy oil so even though it is a little prices it's good for skin and cooking. Bargain

Hi,yes I do have fibromyalgia, under active thyroid, Ibs, amongst other things. Yes it is a condition that I feel a lot of people are not very understanding as it's an invisible one.

Hi, don't know if this works but worth a try. My cousin has been a nurse for 40 yrs and says that they used to fill a jug with diluted bicarbonate of soda and use as a final rinse it the shower.

Leave it on the skin and pat dry. Itching can drive you crazy so I imagine you will try anything. Good luck Jan

When I was nursing we always recommended bicarbonate of soda as well also talcum powder sometimes helps but may have to be fragrance free one.

My skin is occasionally like that but I don't use any soap now- just a smidge of 'Simple' facial cleanser for the really grubby parts and I don't shower more than 3 times a week though I do wash the grubbier bits daily. I also don't use shampoo at all just run the hot water through my hair as the shampoo in the shower was making me really itchy. However I am quite old so if you are younger you may not get away with less washing. The less I wash the better my skin is. People haven't started avoiding me yet!

This may not help as you have other problems that I don't have . It really is horrible and embarrassing to be scratching all the time.

The other thing I found that made me nearly flay my skin was baby oil.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

I am so gneuinely sorry to read how much you are suffering and struggling with this and I agree completely with your other respondents as it really would be best to go and see your doctor.

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with this issue.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

XI agree pat9 phosphates get too high, can cause a problem, more than just itching , not very nice tabs you have to chew, but will stop the itching if it is this.

Fellow fibromates have certainly given you some fabulous advice. GP visit would be a must!!!!!! Do let us know how you get on :) xx

Don't know if you've tried putting cold flannels on ur itchy 'parts' I found it works for me the flannels do get hot but putting back in cold water and just laying them on the itchy bits can really work, also anti histamine it does double for me keeps my allergies at bay & the itching that goes with it. Also I think it Is to do with the kidneys but some form of renal problem makes you itch sorry can't remember which one. Really hope it stops soon Cx

Hi Holmesa, my daughter has kidney disease and suffers at times from intense itching. The kidney specialist said it was from the chronic kidney disease. It's best you get your doctor's advice on this.
