Can anyone tell me if there are any benefits I can claim please? I work 3 days a week as I can't manage anymore than this? It's such a struggle physically and financially! Can I apply for any help? I'm in a Scotland. Thanks. X

Hi Ladymarmalade

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can today, and I would like to extend a warm welcome to the forum, it is wonderful to make your acquaintance.

I have pasted you a link below to the GOV.UK site and how to claim PIP, which is the new disability benefit available to people regardless of whether they work or not. I want to wish you all the bets of luck with this.

I genuinely look forward to bumping into you around the forum.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken, can PIP benefit still be claimed if you have savings?? I did not think I could claim anything due to having more than £16k in savings? Do you know if I can claim Contributory JSA, with savings or will savings decrease the amount of JSA?? Thanks

xx

Hi JeannieMc

I have pasted you the link to the online benefits calculator as the system appears quite complicated, that way you can put in your details in private and keep your anonymity etc. I have also pasted the GOV.UK eligibility link pages:

healthunlocked.com/fibroact...

gov.uk/pip/eligibility

I want to wish you all the best of luck with this?

Take care

I know that this is an old post, but thought that I should mention that

PIP is not means tested.

Hello

I am from Scotland. I had to give up work a year past in April due to my conditions. I found Occupational Health very helpful if you are able to arrange an appointment.

I had my house assessed as I have mobility problem. They arranged for grab rails etc and recommended that I apply for a grant from the Council which was approved. Go on line to gov.uk to request an ESA form. Another place to try for help is a disability living allowance (dla) and they will let you know if you are entitled to any help. Wishing you good luck and keep copies of everything. Take care.

hi you would be very very lucky lucky to get any benefits as you work 3 days a week. if you couldn't work at all that's a different matter. the benefits people will think if you can work 3 days you can work more. the system is all wrong

There are some pinned posts on the right that might help. Ken's link will give you all sorts of good information. Dare I say CAB is always a good start. Take as much relevant information with you as you can think of.

Is the best place to start. it will pop up with what you may be entitled to so do not think at the end it has not told you anything.

Hi there, along with pip you should also apply for working tax credit, you need to be working more than 16 hours a week but because of your recognised disability the amount your earn per anum and still qualify for help is nearly double. If you have any children there is also child tax credit, which again is more generous because of your disability. There are a couple of good on line forums that have all the guidance notes for filling in your pip forms (just google) it's important to have this help because unfortunatly the agency that is prossesing these claims is still atos. Good luck. x
