hi stargazer, it's a bit quiet on here at the moment.

Hi stargazer0117
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I want to say a big hello and welcome to the forum, and I genuinely hope that you find it useful.
I have never used Azathioprine, but I have pasted you a link from Arthritis UK about this medication, so I genuinely hope that you find it useful:
arthritisresearchuk.org/art...
I was curious about you asking about reactions or interactions with steroids, so I have read up a bit on the drug, and it can have the same side effects as steroids, in that Azathioprine should be used with caution in: the elderly, liver or kidney disease, patients with a condition in which their body produces too little thiopurine methyltransferase or TPMT, patients who have ever had chickenpox or shingles, patients who have recently been in contact with somebody who has chickenpox or shingles, patients who are going to have a vaccination, patients with the rare inherited condition Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. In exactly the same way as Prednisolone does! Are you taking Prednisolone?
When you asked about Crane Therapy, are you referring to the counselling service? As they use a more holistic, mind-body approach to treatment, weaving together techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IFS, mindfulness/acceptance and yoga. Many Counselling organisations use such approaches these days, and especially mindfulness which has become very popular in the UK over the last few years.
I want to wish you all the best of luck and I genuinely look forward to bumping into you around the forum.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I took azathioprine for seven years, combined with prednisolone, for lupus. I had to have a blood test first to check if I had any of the conditions Ken has mentioned above, which fortunately I did not have.
I tolerated it very well, no side effects, and it certainly helped with pain and fogginess that lupus sufferers have. ( I have fibro and lupus, a double whammy!)
You do have to be careful though as it is an immune-suppressant, so make sure you have your flu jab, and stay away from those with infectious conditions like chicken pox.
I had to stop when unfortunately I was diagnosed with renal cancer and needed to boost my immune system. Just to say the two things are not linked by the way.
I did so well on it that I completed an OU degree in History, and although I have been off it for several years, I still miss it and the way it helped alleviate my symptoms.
It will take a few weeks to start working properly like most of these things, but based on my own experience I would definitely say, go for it.
Xx
Hi Stargazer, after two car crashes i saw an ostoeopath to help with neck pain many years ago, I also had cranial therapy done on my toddler daughter as she did not sleep well, she used to wake up half a dozen times per night for 3 years, it helped enormously, i had forgotten about this till i saw your question. Hope you get some relief soon
