gp just phoned he said could i do him a favour , he needs someone who has a long term chronic condition to talk to his students about fibro symptoms the effects it has on me and my family etc i told him yes straight away i said its a brilliant idea that student doctors would learn more about this condition first hand and see what it does to us and our families , then they would have a hell of a better understanding of fibro, more doctors should do this, , ill let you know what happens when he makes an appointment to come and see me.

Excellent news. Anything that makes GPs more aware has got to be a good thing.

That's a great idea , at least it will educate new gp's and who better to tell them than a fibro sufferer they get an in sight into how it affects people good luck x :-)

What about including someone who knows you well who could add something to what you say? It may help with your memory and give them another perspective? Its also nice to have someone you know with you when talking to strangers.

Hello Bellabot,

That is great to hear ! So good he has asked you to share your experiences to the Student Doctors that will be treating Fibro patients on the wards as House Officers in the future & possibly GP's themselves in years to come. This will all help to provide information to the new Health Professional 's that will hopefully help the stigma that is sometimes associated with Fibro.

I wonder if you would like to email me at info@fibroaction.org for some FibroAction posters to increase awareness in the surgery too.

All the best with the appointment

That's great Bellablot! take a list of points with you, so you don't forget to mention things that bother you - it's important that they know all about it.

You'll be a star for the day!

Brillaint ideal I wonder if fibro groups around the country should set up meetings where they actually invite gps to come and talk to members. It is something I might try to set up around awareness week later in the year.
