Bony protrusions!

Are fibromites prone to bony protrusions? I have one on the big knuckle of my little finger. It's only a little painful, more so if I bang it. I did have one on my thumb, same knuckle, but that wasn't as big as the one I have now!! Ohhh, more to deal with.....XX

Hi Sue

Sounds like Heberden's nodes which I have on most of my fingers which in my case are caused by osteoarthritis. When they first started one of them came up like a big red cyst and I was sent to see a specialist as it was red and very painful. He suggested anti inflamatories and said that the inflamation often went down of its own accord and he would only operate if they started to interfere with me moving my fingers. After a couple of weeks the redness did go away and I am just now left with the lumps. If it is worrying you I would go to your doctor. As you say just another thing to kick us when we are down. Hope it disappears of its own accord.

Hi sue32

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering with this issue, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

I have some permanent lumps just below (but attached) to my knee joints as a result of my arthritis. I have never had them on my fingers or hands though. rosewine has raised a very good point about Heberden's nodes, so it really would be advisable to have them discussed and hopefully diagnosed, by your GP.

I want to wish you all the best of luck.

Yes I have the same on all my finger joints. Rhumy and doc say it's osteo arthritis. Sorry to hear you are starting with this as well as fibro.

Hugs
