I am not sure what banner to put this. I have had tender fingertips for some time now. But more so on my right hand if I touch anything I am left with dents in the ends of my fingers. These dents can take some time to recover? Any Idea what is causing this?

Tender fingertips that leave dents?
Hi offcut, wish I knew what causes this as I get it too. I have pressure marks on the fingers holding my phone as I type now. Plus if I have to cut my food when eating, I get marks where the knife has been - even a butter knife can cause it. Wish I knew what I could do to ease it. Hugs, Julie xx
Hi Offcut
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are suffering with what sounds like 'pressure marks' at the moment? I do not really know what could be causing this to happen but I think that you should discuss the issue with your GP. I do know that some medications can cause this such as water tablets? Are you taking anything or this sort?
I want to wish you all the best with finding some answers to your issue.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I was given water tablets but they did nothing except make me go to the loo more and it felt like I had been kicked in the kidneys so they took me off them
So sorry to read that, as that does not sound pleasant at all. My wife has water tablets but she does not have any problems like this, so I presume that you must have had an allergic reaction of some kind? I really hope that you can find some resolution to this issue?
Take care
Ken
Might well be my body does seem to dislike all sorts of things I have a bad reaction to iodine. So mussels/shellfish are a real threat to me, it also has a major problem when they do investigative work on my heart as they use iodine as their trace on xray
I also have the same problem. If you press a fingertip it takes ages to go back to normal.I have been on water tabs for years and it still happens.Just one of those mysteries of life.Take Care
I have had this for years and been told it is caused by dehydration and that I should drink more water. I have never been convinced this is correct! Hope you find out. Gentle Hugs
My granddaughter asked me why my thumbpad was dented. I answered as I always do "cos I'm very very very very old!"
I've noticed this more and more recently, and I'm not dehydrated, I don't think so, anyway......?
I was told to pinch the skin on the back of the hand and if it stays you need more fluids mine shoots back like an elastic band. It is the tenderness at the tips, it is like they are bruised?
I have been told from another sufferer that critical illness neuropathy could be the reason.
I looked it up I had most of the problems it mentions in the report I read. I was going into MOF and was on a oscillator for 12 days and ventilator for a further 18 days. It took a very long time to get my hands to work properly.

It fits that the muscle loss would cause the dents and the pain could be the lack of padding making my nerve endings more sensitive?
Offcut, I got lost at Distal Axonapathy!
I think you need to speak again to your GP, perhaps print the article and take it along?
They got uptight when my cardiologist put me in for tests for Anderson Farby disease. They had never even heard of it but to be fair neither had I. All of my conditions/ailments pointed to it but I was found not to have it.
I have had a few problems getting them to look past my heart problems, but I am moving soon (fingers crossed) so might change gp's it is a case the devil you know and all that?
