I think I may have found my new career - willow weaving ! I've spent a couple of days away from the computer, visiting my 3 year old nephew on the other side of Manchester and ended up volunteering with the forestry commission to build his primary school a woodland den. Now, I'm an idiot, and I didn't pace, and I won't be able to move for a few weeks now, but I felt so alive and normal despite the pain, it was bliss. I've shoveled soil and wood chips to landscape, and I've sat on overturned tyres til my bottom went numb weaving leaves. They wove a gorgeous tree onto the playground fence that looked like it was being blown hard by the wind, and then all along the fence were the falling autumn leaves that had been blown from the tree. There were also willow woven birds and flowers, to finish the scene off. It is possibly the most therapeutic thing I have ever done :). Xxx

Look what I made today...
Hi Shiny
I think you must have found a hidden talent. The fence sounds wonderful as I love nature.so it would be my kind of thing I know you might suffer for all your exertions but I bet it was absolutely wonderful to feel normal for a few days. I am having to redo a piece of my garden where we had to fell trees for safety reasons and have spent most of the day in bed because I have done too much ove the last few days but it was absolutely wonderful to be outside hearing the birds singing and having my fingers in the soil.x
Ah, I'm sorry you ended up in bed for the day. I'm sure that will be me tomorrow and beyond. I wish there was the option of posting more than one photo so I could show you the fence, and the beautiful living willow teepee that will blossom. I'm not a gardener at all, but I love the conservation side of outdoors, and it seems now using nature to make creative things too xx
Cool!! Great job. I think it's lovely to work with your hands - I enjoy doing my craft too, it keeps me sane & connects me to the earth & all that is within.
xx
Ah thanks, it's the first time I've done anything like it but I enjoyed it so much, I was gutted that it was the last day of weaving when I went x
I'd love to learn how to make felt pictures. I've made my own felt in the washing machine & fiddled about with it with some success but have seen some wonderful stuff by a lady who gives classes... Trouble is with things like that I'm always worried that I won't be able to make the class and therefore waste the money!! Perhaps one day I will pluck up the courage - she's exhibiting near me soon for a few weeks so am hoping to go along & chat to her. Keep up the good willow work!! <3
Hi Shiny1,
WOW! That looks amazing - I would love to be able to do something like that - well done!
Thank you I was very proud of it! Apparently I was a little obsessively neat according to the willow weaver teacher, but that can't be a bad thing surely? X
Main thing is you enjoyed yourself and felt fulfilled
Sou rd looks you had a brilliant time well done .xxgins

Well done!
Wow.
Well done you. I really hope you don't suffer too much from you adventure. There is nothing like connecting with nature. Even if its just to sit in the park. Not only that what a wonderful gift to have given the children. You will have created memories for them as well as you.
Well done, this is brilliant. Would you be for hire I am moving soon and will have a whole garden to do, so you would be welcome at any time to create something beautiful like that for me. It is something to be proud of. Post a oic of the fence, I love living fences...Susan
That is wonderful! Can I be the first one to place an Order please??!! I am so pleased for you that you found it so therapeutic and enjoyable too! You definitely have got hidden talents! You are not stupid, by any means, I know one of my biggest defects of character is to push myself beyond what I know is possible!
Even after "Warnings" off my hubby and sons nagging me to stop or I"ll be in bed for the next few days, once I am on a roll nothing stopping me!
The out-doors does you good too, with all that lovely fresh air and nature around you is bound to have a positive impact on you! Well done you, you should be immensely proud of
I am so proud of you. You can always book for a Course next time around! Take care.
Sending you positive healing energies & (((gentle hugs)) Lynn XX <3<3
Woweee Shiny, that is absolutely fab, it's something I would love to do. I once wanted to make a living willow seat and shelter for the garden, which would be great as we have a very damp area that would suit it well, but then I thought of how on earth I could cope and what damage I would do to myself, and put the project on hold......hey ho...
Well done you though, and I hope you aren't paying the price too hugely today
Foggy x
This is brilliant, well done! Apart from getting outside, you,ve made something, be proud of yourself! Xx
