This new pip benefit

I have just read the new pip test and understand the mobility section on the assessment about being able to walk certain distances, I find that I would be able to walk 50 meters but would be in constant pain. Walking 200 meters I would be in severe pain from my knee's and lower back.........But the fact that I could walk certain distance would this then be assessed as I would be fit and able to walk even in constant pain...........I really need help when shopping from my family now and have never claimed DLA or this PIP........ Anyone know how this would be assessed in my case,, Able to walk but need support and walking any distant with constant joint/ muscular pain ???

Hello I find the CAB very good at helping you to fill in these forms.

On their advice I answered no because I cannot walk that far without pain, distress, as often as nesessary and within a reasonable time.

I hope I have remembered right .but please do not take my word for it . Get profesional advice sue xx

Thank you, mayrose54, I really will have to try and see if CAB can provide advice, and maybe form filling too, Really can't take the stress of form filling and atos medical assessments, It just makes my condition worse, I applied for DLA after a accident injury in 2005.......Went through the whole thing, Atos independant medical and finally tribunal and their medical doctors....And rejected....No confidence to go through all that stress again.....Also lost my job of 27 yrs as a result of my disabillity.....Thanks will have to let the CAB know about my stress difficulty too..... :)

Hello Security,

I understand this stressful time and I personally used the local Advocacy service to help with my claim, here's some information about Advocacy which may be available in your area;

Hi sorry to hear your in the same boat as me twice have been for assement and turned down but have now applied for pip all I can tell you is put down your worst day on the forms and remember you may be able to walk 50 yards to the shops but you may not be able to walk back I wish you all the luck in the world

Hi there :)

I cannot walk any distance without pain at all so I always put zero meters. I found that was where I was going wrong every time I filled any DWP forms in.

However, I always stress the importance of using an advocacy service for form filling as they know how to answer such forms appropriately in accordance to your abilities. Furthermore if you get denied they will request a reconsideration and then appeal if necessary. By using an advocacy service you maintain the continuity of the claim as they stick with you to the end and are familiar with you and your claim.

I can see that Emma has given you some useful links so I wish you luck and hope it goes well for you :)

Please let us know how you get on.

Hi there

I hope you don't mind me sending u this message. I read with interest that u said u put that u could not walk 20 metres, because u could not do it without pain, then u said that this was where u were go

in reply to tramelia

Hi tramelia

It's ok to ask :)

I've had chronic pa'in issues spanning 20yrs and for years filled the forms in by myself and then when married with my husband. It wasn't until the last couple of years that we realised we needed help to fill the forms in and got in touch with the CAB or Welfare Rights.

I hope this clarifies what I meant hunny but please don't be afraid to ask me anything else if I haven't answered your question.

Hi Zeb73, I am so sorry, I have not made myself very clear. In your earlier message, you said

'I cannot walk any distance without pain at all so I always put zero meters. I found that was where I was going wrong every time I filled any DWP forms in.'

My question is that when I come to fill out the same part, like you, I cannot walk any distance without a lot of pain. You said that by putting zero metres is where you were going wrong when you filled in any DWP forms. If it is not right to put zero, what should I be putting?

I am so sorry for understanding what you mean. I am so anxious over all this ESA and PIP, and would really like to know what I should put if zero is the incorrect answer.

Many thanks for reading this message when I know you have enough problems of your own.

Take good care.

Tramelia

in reply to tramelia

Oh! no I was referring to the fact I'd say 50m or something when I should have been saying 0.

Sorry to confuse you hunny :) Put 0 :)

I can honestly say I feel the same as you . I am lucky to be working and it is office based.

But walking is so difficult I use aided to help. But every step is so pain full. Hope you get on OK and your pain eases soon x x

I thought that they had changed the PIP distance to 20 metres now. Which is stupid as Government building Regulations state that disability parking should be a maximum of 50 metres from the entrance to a building?

Get in touch with CAB they do have a lot of experience in these forms.

Hope it all goes well.

i have had DLA for around 18yrs - i can stand and can walk but am not steady and the pain it causes means i can then not function so i use a wheelchair indoors and out. The words to use are 'this causes extreme pain and severe discomfort' and keep repeating it as many times as required. I have helped many people get DLA though i am working with the 1st person on PIP later this week.
