Hi there, no you will not have to claim PIP because it is only available up till the age of 65. What benefits you will be entitled to after that I have no idea but I would suggest you contact your local citizens advice bureau as they should be able to help you. Good luck, Linda.
Thanx for replying...but weirder and weirder lol..just got letter saying higher motability awarded indefinitely but still got medical today..proof if proof was needed govt gone mad!! Lol
Hi groovydoll
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are being left with the stress of wondering how and why these things are happening.
I just wanted to say to you that when you reach 65 years of age you can apply for 'Attendance Allowance' to replace your DLA / PIP and you only have to do this once only. A simple phone call to your local DWP will help clarify this for you, and hopefully. get the wheels in motion.
I sincerely hope that this helps you in some way?
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I have just googled this, and as far as I can ascertain, if you're gettinv dla BEFORE you are 65 you do not have to apply for attendance allowance, you would still get whatever, but it will be called PIP. I too have dla highest rates for life, but, because I am a few months too young, I will be called in to be re assesed. I will be 64 in Aug. I Cant really understand it, because they say the PIP is for working age, yet I am a pensioner.... the whole system has gone to pot!
A lot of people I know in my hearing voices group are annoyed because they got told that they would get DLA for life, but nobody does anymore because of the idiots who think that it should be assessed every year, even if things are not going to get any better.
The CAB is the way to go really.
