Does anyone have any experiences with pregablin? Did anyone develop cramps in their legs?

Hi Scoobz68

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are having problems with cramps at the present time.

My only experience of Pregabalin is through my wife. She has Primary Progressive MS and takes a very high dose on a daily basis. Since she suffers with MS, cramps are part and parcel of the illness. I think when we get either new pain or possible side effects to our medications, then the best course of action is to discuss this with our GPs.

It is so difficult to really say what the issue is as we are all unique individuals and react differently to both our illness and our medications. I was wondering if cramps are listed as one of the possible side effects of this? As I have never read the leaflet?

I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

I'm on Pregab. Just worked my way down from 300mg twice daily to 200mg twice daily and started getting dreadful cramp in my right hip and both feet.

Gentle hugs

I never had cramp in my legs either before, or whilst taking Pregabalin. However when I stopped taking it, the withdrawal gave the most awful leg cramps (doctor never told me to cut down first - just to stop taking it). It passed after a few weeks, but then returned during a flare last year and has been present ever since. I now take Duloxetine, which takes the edge off, but doesn't remove the cramps & pain.

I cannot say the Pregabalin caused the cramps, I only know I never had them before taking it.

I suggest if you are worried about any symptoms that have occurred since taking it, the best person to discuss it with is your doctor, as we are all different, and so react differently

Hello Scoobz68

I was on Pregabalin for about 6 months & I had the most awful side effects from it, including leg/feet cramp, restless legs, loss of balance, feeling dizzy (like I was drunk but I don't drink), loss of coordination though-out my body. The list of side effects went on & on, It was awful & it did not really help with my pain either, so at the end of November 2013, I decided to stop taking them as I had done a lot of research via google I also checked out the withdrawal symptoms and just stopped taking 1 dose per day every 3/4 weeks until I was completely off of the Pregabalin. I have now been completely off of them for 3 weeks it has been a really hard thing to do but I have started to feel better for it, I have replaced the Pregabalin for Paracetamol as they work well with the Tramadol that I take, it does help with the pain but I need to see my GP to see if he will let me take a stromger dose of Tramadol instead.

Hope you feel better soon, take care Jay x

Hi, I'm on Gabapentin (the poor relation of Pregablin) and it does give cramps in both legs at the same time, horrendous!!!! The physio gave me stretching exercises which do help lengthen the muscles which is part of the problem with Fibro, but I also get restless leg syndrome now and have been put on a low dose of Ropinerol (Dopamine) which works within an hour to stop the restless legs, also knocks me out, so take this an hour before bed and when I start to yawn take my night meds and get myself off to bed, I usually once wake up only once or maybe twice unless in real pain in which case I have to get up, but mostly I am able to get back to sleep. I try not to stretch my legs in bed, its real hard not to. If I feel my legs are getting a bit crampy and twingy then I do my stretching exercises and it seems to keep it at bay.

Hope this helps, gentle hugs, Lynn x
