Does anyone else get intense pain suddenly in the middle of the upper arm or lower leg while resting and after no exertion? It feels as though I have been lifting an enurmous weight and really overused the muscle in my upper arm right now when in fact I'm just sitting with that arm resting while using the other arm. Generally it takes me by surprise and puzzles me, particularly as it is long lasting over maybe ten or fifteen minutes, sometimes longer. It can also feel as though the pain is coming from the bones themselves. as it is midway along them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Intense muscle pain
I endure something similar but I couldn't tell why that is? I can't take either arm backwards, only from the elbow and have assumed it must have something to do with the shoulders. I've recently started having problems with bursitis in both elbows too and I don't do anything either Doc said I had frozen shoulders but again don't know if its connected to that either
The pains I get in my shins and calves I've assumed to be connected to circulatory problems and the fact I can't exercise so I don't get to move my legs enough. Oh and possible vitamin deficiency of some kind such as iron or vit D.
I know this doesn't really help you apart from knowing you're not alone with it but maybe having a chat to your GP would be useful as he/she can check it out for you and give appropriate treatment

Hi secondhandrose
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as can be? I am so sorry to read that you are having this problem and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief from it as soon as possible.
I do get something similar but it is mainly in my hands, it just comes and it really hurts. Then within a few minutes it gone. However, once it starts it repeats this for at least a couple of hours before going completely. I hope that somebody on the forum has an answer for you?
All my hopes and dreams for you.

Hello Secondhandrose,
Is your painful muscle appear slighly tense during the episode and feel bruised afterwards? I wondered whether it could be MyofascIal Pain, as I experience similar symptoms.
Have you spoken to your GP about these symptoms?

Yes i have intense muscle pain also, its so painful that even pain killers dont help. Like you i can just be sat and the pain just starts. xx
Morning secondhand rose, I have the same problem, also in my thighs the pains that go thru them Are horrible , as you say it's as if you have been using those muscles, sometimes I've been holding a cup and my upper arm muscle hurts, I think Emma has used the right word the muscle tightens then relaxes, I thought it was due to the fibro.....hugs...Dee x
Hi and thanks all for your replies, especially Emma - I've researched and yes you ar right in that myofascial is exactly what I experience and makes sense too. I'll see my GP about referral to a pain clinic. Thanks again, Suex
Hi hun! Just reading all the replies hear it appears I suffer with myofascial pain too. I have often wondered why my arm/leg/shoulder,buttocks hurt without my having done anything out of the norm! Now I know why! I must have a body full of 'knots'...and the pain can be excruciating but no painkillers can help. It can happen when I'm just sitting in the chair with my legs raised, when I'm about to pick up a hot drink (!) and, for me, it feels like someone is gripping me really, really hard. The area is sensitive for a time afterwards.
I hope you find some relief whatever happens. XXX
Strange isn't it? Likewise. I get sore starting in left arm when cycling only a few minutes. Thought it was something else and tried several things that didn't work. Now I know why. It fits the description to a tee. Gentle hugs.
