Breathing

I have noticed that my chest is hurting all the time, and I was thinking it could be fibro, seeing as it effects your muscles.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Hello RainbowElf, Yes I do believe its to do with the Fibro, I do sometimes have pain when breathing and I also get pain all round my chest and just about everywhere, you could get it checked out with your GP to put your mind at rest!! Best Wishes...Aisha..x

It could be a muscle spasm of the chest, I get these a lot, but best to get any new symptoms checked out with your GP :)

Hi RainbowElf

I am so sorry to read that you are having such problems at the moment. I would always recommend anyone with chest problems to see their GP as soon as possible. There is every probability that it is nothing serious but it is one of those areas that you should always address quickly.

I always have chest pains in my muscles, my ribs and when I breathe due to asthma and COPD. So just to be on the safe side please get it checked out.

Take care

Ken x

Hi pugwash

I hope that you are as well as can be? Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the name for a collection of lung diseases including chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic obstructive airways disease.

I agree with what's been advised, please check any new symptoms out with your gp. Let us know how you get on.

Hi RainbowElf

I also think a trip to see your GP about this would be the best thing to do?

In answer to your Q yes I get chest pains and when they appear frequently I actually arrange a telephone consult with my GP if there's a long wait for an appointment.

I must stress that if it gets a lot worse and like a crushing pain and you feel sick and clammy to call NHS Direct, or equivalent, for help :)

Sending you pain busting fluffies to help ease the pain and sadness :) xxxsianxxx :)

I do get chest pain however I put that down to COPD and I also have a hiatus hernia but get your GP to check you out.

I have the same problem at the doc checking its not a checking its not a chest infection. I get pI##ed off with him 'it's just your fibromyalgia' if it was a chest infection I would get tablets and that would be the end of it but no I just have to put up with it. Good luck keep me posted if you get any solutions x

I have had pains on and off in my chest for years. Normally about 2-3 days a week and I am very short of breath all the time. I have always put it down to my inactivity and the fact that as my fibro has gotten worse my weight has got heavier. My doctors don't seem bothered I only ever get told "It's your Fibro what do you expect" or "Your over weight so it's your own fault"

Morning rainbowelf, yes I've had those pains, I also suffer with asthma, I get those pains especially first thing after I have been lying flat, which I don't and can't do that often, it feels like someone has been sitting on my chest, this bummer of a condition creates all types of different pains all over the body doesn't it, hope you are feeling a little better today....gentle hugs...Dee x

Hi rainbowelf! Yes.....I too have these cheat pains. They can be a bit scary at first, but my GP assured me it was muscular and that my heart showed no signs of being problematic. Have you mentioned costochondritis to your GP? Like many others here I get this also. Please check with your GP....sending hugs!! XX :)

Hi

I wrote a post about this earlier in the week.

I've been having bad chest pain for 3 months.

I've seen 2 different doctors and they've both told me that it is a symptom of Fibromyalgia.

The muscle in the chest wall is causing irritation, which causes the pain.

But, I would definitely recommend seeing your GP just to rule anything else out.

Hope this helps

Hey all thank you so much.

I have seen the doctors several times about this, I did have a bit of a scare with my heart but it turned out be nothing.

Then about six months ago the doc checked me for a chest infection but said all was clear.

I am constantly breathless, and my chest is always hurting, the doctors have said it is just anxiety (which I do suffer with), but I know my anxiety feels really different. Then I got told that it was the mold in my flat, which I suppose it could be.

Just lately even talking is making me breathless, even getting breath to talk is difficult.

Sometimes I wish that I could not breath for a bit to give my chest a rest.

Like someone else said it is worst when laid flat on my back, it actually makes me cough, and I feel like I can't breath.

Quite often I get really dizzy and have to stop and take a break.

I have only recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia even though I have had the symptoms for years.

I am seeing the doctor on Tuesday for something else to do with fibro and bursitis, but I will bring it up again see if anything has changed.

Thank you everyone, glad I am not imagining it. :)
