Hi Peter.
I don't know much about it my self, I'm sure someone else will be on and explain it in more detail. It's chest pain that can mimic a heart attack, but its inflammation of the cartilage that connects your ribs to your breast bone. its a separate condition to Fibro, of course any chest pain need to be taken seriously and checked out straight away.
Hope this helps

Hi Peter,it's excruciatingly painful,hurts to move,cough and breathe,is also very painful to touch affected areas,it is an inflammation of the muscles of the ribcage and chest wall ,it often affects fibromyalgia patients,i often have bouts of it,i am also asthmatic so this often attributes to the condition for me,always see your GP for any severe chest pain as it needs strong pain relief and also could be something else entirely such as a heart attack x
Hi Della - I have had this, feels like a vice, and like I'm having a heart attack. I've wondered if it was costo but it only last minutes whereas others talk about having something lasting weeks and affecting their back etc, so I'm confused too.
Sometimes i do get a sharp twinge and i think oh know here we go another bout of it,usually it flares up for days or weeks but sometimes you can feel the odd twinge as i suppose it's weakened and predisposed to pain in the ribcage and chest area,hope this helps x
Mine don't feel like that. The pain is much more than a twinge and may or not be related to other back or chest pain I've had. x
Hello Peter,
Although Della has explained it very well, here is a link which may provide some more information;
